'Paranormal Activity 3' trailer: In which a little girl throws herself down a staircase

Paramount has just released a new trailer for Paranormal Activity 3, the second sequel in their wildly successful camcorder horror franchise.

The film, directed by Catfish helmers Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman, jumps back to 1988 to reveal how young sisters Katie (from Paranormal Activity) and Kristi (from Paranormal Activity 2) originally became intertwined with the demons that continue to plague them years later.

The film appears to have a larger cast and more complex plot than its predecessors, and from the brief glimpses in the trailer, it also looks like we’ll see far more than just surveillance footage inside the house. Don’t worry, though, the main attraction of ghostly terror is alive and well!

Check out the creepy clip below, but be warned — unlike the first trailer, this one looks very spoiler-y:

What do you think? Will you be checking out the horrifying threequel on Oct. 21?

      • Hollywood Plant

Can’t wait! A sequel should be made every year!

    • LOL

      America loves crap.

    • Chad

Because they make millions of dollars for the studio…that is why….but you knew that….

    • meme

      • house

So happy they are continuing this franchise. The first two movies were so much fun to see in the theater! I love ghost stories and they don’t make enough of them in Hollywood. I’m so sick of only having the option of torture porn if you want a good scare.

  • Donna

well this actually looks alot better than the first two which to me was so boring

  • Michael

Grady, I can’t believe you got the job at EW after your Youtube videos! You’re so lucky! Wow… that is just awesome. I hope you know how lucky you are!

  • Chris

I’m sorry, but when that guy started slamming his face into the table, I could not stop laughing.

    • Jose

That’s why I love this series! So laughably good!

      • jose

  • BJohnson

So will the kids memories get wiped or something because they act like they had no clue what was going on in the first two movies. This shows that they were well aware.

  • jimmy

you know who they should call to solve this ghost problem.
    GHOST BUSTERS

  • gato

This one has alot more “shocks” , good for the film makers, finally!!

  • Boo!

The first two sucked and this “franchise” is one of the worst horror movies I’ve ever seen along with Rob Zombie’s Halloween “remakes”, every “Americanized” Asian horror movie remake and the “Evil Dead” movies.

    • shoop shoop

nah sorry, you lost me at the Evil Dead movies. If you think they such your opinion does not matter. Go back to your WoW and pretending your an elf princess or whatever

    • meme

      Amen to that.

      • meme

my Amen to that was for BOO. i agree the PA ‘franchise’ sucks big time as do the others mentioned.

      • Matt W

Yet you keep seeing them obviously.

  • Robert

Okay, the first two were good because they had a lot of subtle things and they weren’t super crazy. This one just looks over the top and cheesy like every other bad supernatural flick. I’m getting a little less excited.

  • Will

looks pretty good, except that water special effect, and the video quality didn’t really look all that 80′s

  • sheboyganscott

I wont be checking it out on Oct. 18, because it isnt being released until Oct. 21…unless they changed it to be released on a Tuesday?

  • Chad

    They had a cute dad…..

  • SLB

Since 2 stunk, i’m not excited about 3.

  • slappy magoo

They had camcorders that shot widescreen in 1988?

    • BJohnson

LOL Good one. That quality is pretty spot on too. Who found this anyway? Isn’t everyone dead?
