An accident on the Toronto set of Resident Evil: Retribution early Tuesday morning has injured several background actors and sent 11 of them to the hospital, sparking an investigation by the Ontario Ministry of Labour. The mishap occurred at  Toronto’s Cinespace Film Studios facility at 8:35 a.m., and involved a four-foot high platform shifting position, leaving a gap into which the actors fell. Since the actors were reportedly dressed as zombies, paramedics could not tell at first which of them were actually injured or merely in character.
According to the film’s unit publicist, Karen Pidgurski, none of the injuries were life-threatening. One background actor suffered a cracked rib, one a stress fracture of the tibia and one a possible back injury. Seven of the 11 hospitalized actors have already returned to the set. The movie franchise’s star, Milla Jovovich, was reportedly not on the set at the time of the accident.
The film’s production company released a statement saying: “It is with regret that we confirm this unfortunate accident. The thoughts of everyone involved in the production are with those who have been injured, and we hope that all have a quick and complete recovery. The filmmakers are continuing to work closely with the authorities in responding to this incident.”
According to a Labour Ministry spokesman, the investigation has no plan at the moment to shut down production on the Screen Gems picture.

That said, and I know it’s wrong, but my first thought was that it must be an accident that Resident Evil 5 is even being made.

Talk about life imitating art! This was the premise of the big emergency on last week’s episode of “Grey’s Anatomy,” when fans from a sci-fi convention ended up at the hospital in costume. The former chief was trying to treat a zombie girl, and kept discovering that her “wounds” were only make-up.

Definetely acceptable casualties.
I hope the producers get sacked, after this film will be the last one by the outhorities etc. Then this film will be the last one and the producers and writer will be sacked. Then their will be a Re – Boot of the films, where they are Canon and in the same universe as the Resident evil, Video games and to not confuse fans like me – ABOUT THE CANON OF THE GAMES. So Their should be a reboot, like the first will be Begins or Re, Outbreak. With the Films Replicated from the games and the CGI films with Leon in them. Which that is the same universe, but only with a main lead, Game character in them, like in each game to film replicated. Then it could be back to games. Like Claire Rebecca, Chris and Ada – as the main Character.
“To Ser” why should the producer get sacked? Sometimes mishaps happen and it’s not necessarily the production’s fault. It’s not a directorial issue, or managing issue, this is just a construction mishap. Luckily, none of the zombies were seriously hurt.
To Tallulah Doll I was just upset for the cast and the actors them selves and am worried about milla and other main characters later on. I just got upset as I care about them and I am a big fan of some of the actors. Sorry I just care about them and I got emotionly upset. Hope every thing goes well for the Actors and Actors for the new film. So All the best to them x.

The accident is that Milla Jovovich continues to get acting jobs, maybe accident’s the wrong word, mistake works better.

I agree – with every thing and one reporter or producer said it will be the last on. Then a reboot will be done, with a main game and same character in every film repilicated from the games, in their same universe.
It’s unfortunate that this mishap occured, and hopefully everyone will be ok. As for the Resident Evil series itself: LOVE EM! EVERY ONE OF EM HAS BEEN AWESOME! I love the video game series, and I’ve been very happy with this movie series. Milla Jovovich is definitely the Linda Hamilton or Sigourney Weaver of her generation, and each new movie brings something special to the table! I love this franchise! Don’t ever quit! Hell, the James Bond franchise has been going on forever, Resident Evil can as well! You know, I might just go check out the new “Three Musketeers” flick coming soon, since the Resident Evil director and his superstar wife are involved in it! I love me some Milla! You bet!
