Thor 2 will boast a feminine touch. Marvel has confirmed to EW what we suspected nearly one month ago: Monster director Patty Jenkins is set to helm the 2013 follow-up to Thor.
Seems the sequel is in good hands. Jenkins’ previous work includes Monster — which won Charlize Theron an Oscar — and episodes of Entourage and Arrested Development. She also directed AMC’s critically acclaimed The Killing pilot.
Kenneth Branagh directed the first Thor film; the second chapter will “take Thor literally to other worlds,” according to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige. Feige told EW that the sequel would follow the title character’s (Chris Hemsworth) relationships with Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) and father Odin (Anthony Hopkins).
Of course, before you see Thor 2 on the big screen Nov. 15, 2013, you can catch up with the hammer-holding hero in The Avengers on May 4, 2012.

I really wish they’d come up with another title. THOR 2 is just….plain and expected. Ad a subtitle or something. THE MIGHTY THOR would work for me.
Thor 2: Superhero Boogaloo
Thor 2: Thor Harder
2 Thor 2 Thorious
Thor 2 (Full Sequence)
LOL
Thor Loser
Canker Thor
“2 Thor 2 Thorious”–thanks for the laugh of the day, Biscotti.
LMAO @ Biscottii
THOR: As Mediocre as the First but with a Bigger Budget
Thor Your Conthideration
More Thor
Thor 2: Please Hammer Don’t Hurt ‘Em
To Thor or Not to Thor
Thor Spot
LOL @ bma.
Thorrible
I like THE MIGHTY THOR.
Could be a working title for now.
@moviemartin
Nothing anyone can do to fix this pile of a franchise.
You’re thinking of Green Lantern.
I just hope there’s a different villain.
Ill admit the thing ive seen that she’s done is her work on the killing but if a woman can win best director then there has to be at least 1 woman who knows how to direct a superhero film. I was a huge fan the first film so i hope she can pull it off
meant to write the only thing ive seen that shes done is her work on the killing
They’re dooming this movie all ready.
November 15, 2013 is a terrible release date.
The first week of August would be better for the “Summer Blockbuster” season.
America Loves Crap.
Speaking of crap, anyone catch the latest Kardashian episode? Kim was in a hottub, being whiny of course. She had drank a bit too much, and accidently squeezed out a big old turd. The Kardashian turd floated up to the top of the water, and was bouncing around in the sudsy bubbles. Kim was freaking out, as the jets propelled the K-turd closer toward her. It was bobbing near hear head when she’d had enough. She stood up to get out of the hottub, but slipped and fell back into the water, right onto the K-turd! It broke up into little pieces, chunks getting stuck in between her toes and in her hair. I was a Kraptastic Kardashian episode!!!
MIGHTY THOR .. sounds good
Horrible news! So I guess Jane will gain a LOT of weight, start killing people and Thor will have to stop her?
Yep! cuz every movie one director does is exactly the same…
You mean you don’t remember when Jon Favreau turned Iron Man into one of Santa’s elves?
I only hope that the sequel is good. I really enjoy Thor and Chris Hemsworth nail the character, specially since Thor is the least know superhero of the Avengers.
I bet she does a great job, The Killing pilot was outstanding.
I hope she does great, I’m sure she will.
My questions is with the Avengers coming out, when a character has a new nemisis in the upcoming sequels (Thor 2, Iron Man 3, ect.) how are they going to ingnore the fact that they can just dial up another charcter to help save the world.
I’m officially excited for the movie now.
Same here!
If she’s a really GOOD director, she will no more turn this into a “feminine” movie than Branagh made the first movie a disguised Shakespeare play. Making it more “feminine” would just be letting her female ego walk all over Thor.
New Title; Thor Bottom. I would like to see Thor battle some of the Epgytian Gods, like Osiris, Isis, etc, as in the comic. Or perhaps the troll warrior, whose name escapes me.
Ulik, the rock troll. would be the name i was searching for.
Thor should battle Allah and whip his arse.
Seems like it’s in good hands? Not ripping Monster because it was a fairly well done powerful film but not the right choice for this movie. Kenneth Branagh had at least done films like Dead Again in addition to his Shakespearean work. Directing episodes of shows does not make you a good director.
