You can separate Colin Farrell’s career into three distinctive acts. In the first act, he was the scrappy Irish up-and-comer, memorably stealing scenes in dreck like Hart’s War and Daredevil and successfully rousting Al Pacino from his late-career snooze in The Recruit. Then came the second act, when Farrell became a Hollywood playboy, an action hero, and the star of two of the great auteurist misfires of our time: Alexander and Miami Vice. (Farrell himself referenced this period at the 2010 Golden Globes: “I once was a clichĂ©.”) The third and most interesting portion of his career began with 2008′s In Bruges; since that guttural Euro-noir, the actor has been taking an array of supporting parts, with the occasional scenery-chewing role mixed in. The upcoming London Boulevard finds Farrell back in the gangster world, playing a fresh-out-of-prison enforcer trying to get clean. Keira Knightley plays a starlet who falls for him; Ray Winstone plays Ray Winstone as only Ray Winstone can. Check out the trailer:

‘London Boulevard’ trailer gives ‘Departed’ a British accent

London Boulevard should have been released a year ago and it is a disgrace that not only has it been needlessly delayed but it is only getting a limited release. It has a stellar cast and shouldn’t go unnoticed by the public when it finally comes out.
I’ve been waiting to see this movie for a year. Hope its not too limited.
It’s currently available as a $10 rental on itunes.
Wow, Colin’s put some weight on – l like it!! he’s looking more and more like Bob Hoskins from Who Framed Roger Rabit!! Lol.
Who are you looking at? He looks and sound delicious.
British movies tend to be better simply because they’re British. For all the money spent on American ones, sorry, take away the babes, the bullets, the flipping cars and slo-mo explosions… and there’s nothing much going on. I’ll take ‘Bruges’, ‘Lock Stock… ‘, ‘Twin Town’, ‘Shallow Grave’ and ‘Snatch’ any day… with or without Mr. Farrell.
AGREED!
The book was fantastic, the Keira Knightly character was older though.
Sounds like an interesting film – if only it didn’t force me to waste time on the minimally talented Keira Knightley.
Saw this at a press screening in Paris earlier this year. Overall it’s a good film, but some scenes just drag on, rendering them unnecessary. I do like the way it’s filmed though and the colors bring out the sinister atmosphere of the London underworld. And Colin Farrell is brilliant.
