Maybe there’s not a deep family resemblance, but if you squint you can see it, right?
Luckily, Clint Eastwood is used to squinting.
Amy Adams has been offered the role of the iconic tough guy’s daughter in the baseball drama Trouble With the Curve, according to sources close to the production.
The film is about an aging baseball scout who goes on the road one last time with his estranged daughter, who presumably helps him overcome any weakness, such as his diminished eyesight, that might get in the way of finding new recruits. Adams hasn’t committed to the role, but barring any schedule conflicts, Warner Bros. is hopeful she’ll sign on. (Her reps did not immediately respond to request for comment.)
The movie would be directed by Robert Lorenz, Eastwood’s longtime producing partner, who has served as an assistant director on many of his films.
The project came together after a hole opened in Eastwood’s schedule when Beyonc´’s pregnancy postponed plans for him to direct her in a remake of A Star is Born.
It would be the J. Edgar director’s first screen role since Gran Torino, and the first time he worked for a director other than himself since 1993′s In the Line of Fire.
