“Thirty-eight of New York’s finest versus one guy in a unitard?”
Of all the revelations in the new trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man — Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) constructing his web-slingers like God Stan Lee and Steve Ditko intended! A blink-and-you’ll-miss-it shot of Dr. Curt Connors (Rhys Ifans) transforming into The Lizard! — by far the best one is Denis Leary as George Stacy, p.o.’d NYPD chief and papa to Peter’s potential girlfriend Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone). It’s also nice to see that this iteration of Spidey is kind of a wise-ass: ”You know, in the future, if you’re gonna steal cars, don’t dress like a car thief, man.”
