It’s Oscar Sunday and everyone will be tuning in tonight for the return of the king — Billy Crystal! — and to see if the ceremony will be dominated by the sounds of silence. The Artist is favored to be the first (mostly) silent film to take home the top prize since Wings in 1928, but there’s more than enough suspense to keep you interested. Will Viola Davis send Meryl Streep home emptyhanded yet again in the Best Actress race? How will Miss Piggy react if the Muppets’ Best Song nominee is turned away? And which deceased celebrity will receive the longest applause during the In Memoriam montage — Liz Taylor right? The fun gets started at 6 p.m. ET, when EW’s Mandi Bierly and Annie Barrett live blog the red carpet. At 7 p.m. ET, our own Oscar expert Dave Karger — the Academy Awards’ official greeter — will be on the red carpet and live-streamed on our dynamic Oscar dashboard. When the ceremony itself begins, Darren Franich and Christian Blauvelt will be your loyal and opinionated viewing companions as they live-blog every magical moment and memorable misstep that will be discussed ad nauseum on Monday morning.
