Married screenwriters Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver scored a surprise hit last summer with Rise of the Planet of the Apes, and now it looks like they’ll soon be flexing their reboot muscles on another creature-feature franchise. A source has confirmed to EW that Jaffa and Silver are in final negotiations to begin working on a new Jurassic Park film. (Mike Fleming at Deadline initially broke the news about their potential involvement.)
A fourth Jurassic Park has been in development for over a decade now, but the project appeared to gain new life last year, when Steven Spielberg announced at Comic-Con that he was hoping to make the movie “within the next two or three years.” As with the Joe Johnston-helmed Jurassic Park III, Spielberg would likely just produce the movie, not direct. At this point, the story for the movie is still very much under wraps, so we can neither confirm nor deny that it will feature dinosaurs with guns.
