Rose Byrne is about to learn the first lesson of corporate America:
Hands off the interns.
Sources tell EW that the Damages and Bridesmaids actress is in final talks to co-star with Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn in the upcoming comedy The Internship, about two unemployed, 40-something guys trying to start new careers at the absolute bottom of the ladder at a Silicon Valley tech firm.
Her reps say the deal isn’t closed yet, but Byrne, who previously wooed James McAvoy’s Professor X as special agent Moira MacTaggert in last year’s X-Men: First Class, would play an upper management type who, let’s say, starts fishing off the company pier.
Sources close to the film say she would play a high-ranking executive who starts a relationship with Wilson’s character. (Human Resources will surely have some paperwork for them to fill out.)
JoAnna Garcia Swisher (TV’s Privileged, Reba and Royal Pains) will co-star as Vaughn’s love interest.
The movie will be directed by Real Steel and Date Night filmmaker Shawn Levy, and starts shooting on July 9. This marks the first time Wilson and Vaughn have reunited onscreen since 2005’s Wedding Crashers. The script was also penned by Vaughn, who previously co-wrote The Break-Up and Couples Retreat.
The 20th Century Fox film is being co-produced by Levy’s 21 Laps Entertainment and Vaughn’s Wild West Picture Show. Byrne is represented by CAA.
The Australian actress can next be seen opposite Glenn Close in the fifth season premiere for Damages, which returns to DirecTV on July 11.
