I know, I know … a teaser clip for an upcoming trailer. It seems kind of silly.
But for fans of the Marvel movies who’ve been eagerly awaiting the start of their “Phase Two” series of post-Avengers movies, this is kind of like nibbling a little Halloween candy before heading home from trick-or-treating to rip open the whole bag.
The full trailer for Iron Man 3 comes out on Tuesday, but for now … we get the fun-size version.
As pictured above, we catch a glimpse of Robert Downey Jr.’s new gear as Tony Stark strikes a pose in the world’s most expensive wardrobe closet. There’s a peek at the back of the head of our new villain — an international terrorist known as The Mandarin (played by Ben Kingsley.) And we see Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) in distress — either getting locked in for a roller coaster ride or simply being tortured.
The goal of these 18 seconds is mystery, so in that sense: mission accomplished.
Probably the only thing the trailer actually clears up is what is happening from this on-set photo of what seems to be a dangling mobile made out of human beings. In the final shot of the clip, we see Iron Man flying to the rescue of some plummeting people. He’s a nice guy like that. Always happy to help the soon-to-be-splattered.
Anyway, here’s the clip. With more to come very soon …
