From low-budget time travel to big-budget dinosaurs.

Colin Trevorrow has scored quite the massive follow-up gig to his charming indie Safety Not Guaranteed: He will direct Jurassic Park 4, Universal announced Thursday.

The fourth installment in the franchise that spawned from the Michael Crichton novel has been a long time coming: it’s been nearly 12 years since Jurassic Park III opened in theaters.

Trevorrow’s Safety Not Guaranteed, which stars Aubrey Plaza, Mark Duplass, and Jake Johnson, took the 2012 Sundance Film Festival by storm and earned its writer, Derek Connolly, the festival’s Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award.

Jurassic Park 4 will be executive produced by the man who got the franchise started, Steven Spielberg, and produced by his longtime collaborator Frank Marshall, along with Bourne series producer Patrick Crowley.

The sequel is coming together just as the Jurassic Park film franchise celebrates its 20th anniversary; the first film was released in June 1993. To recognize the landmark, Universal has done a 3-D conversion of the original film, which will start screening in theaters April 5.
