• Kate Hudson (Something Borrowed) is set to join Zach Braff’s Wish I Was Here. The story follows 35-year-old husband, father, and struggling actor Aiden Bloom (Braff), who decides to home school his kids when his father (Homeland’s Mandy Patinkin, playing another Saul) has to stop funding their private education. Hudson will play the part of Braff’s wife. Braff famously funded this project through a Kickstarter campaign that actually still has three days left. At the time of posting, the project had raised over $690K beyond its goal of $2 million. The film also stars Anna Kendrick (Pitch Perfect), Josh Gad (1600 Penn), and Jim Parsons (The Big Bang Theory). [Deadline]

The Hunger Games’ Liam Hemsworth will play a surfer turned fighter pilot in Aurora Rising. Written by Christian Gudegast (A Man Apart), the movie will tell the story of Hemsworth’s character who gets recruited to be part of an elite team just in time to help out with an escalating conflict abroad. The Australian actor will also be reprising his role as Gale Hawthorne in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, out November 22. [Deadline]

Game of Thrones favorite Peter Dinklage is making the time to return to film. He’s just signed on to star in Hop Frog, based on the Edgar Allen Poe story about a court jester out to get revenge against knights of the court. The film’s plot will vary a bit from the original text, though, and include a subplot about a murdered uncle and a kidnapped love. In Poe’s story, Hop-Frog seeks revenge for his own enslavement and mistreatment and the humiliation of his friend. Mark Palansky (Penelope) will direct. [Screen Daily]

• Anthony Hopkins (Hitchcock) is set to join the cast of Gotti: In the Shadow of My Father, alongside John Travolta (Savages) and Kelly Preston (Casino Jack). Joe Johnston (Captain America: The First Avenger) will direct the mob boss biopic, which is based on an idea from Gotti’s son. [Variety]

• Caleb Landry Jones, who played Jimmy Adler in Friday Night Lights, has joined the ensemble cast of John Slattery’s (Mad Men) feature directorial debut God’s Pocket, which currently stars Philip Seymour Hoffman, Richard Jenkins, and Christina Hendricks. The film is about the mysterious death of a young man in a small town. Jones is also joining the cast of Low Down, starring John Hawkes and Elle Fanning. He’ll play Fanning’s love interest in the story about her pianist father’s drug addition, told from her perspective. [Variety]
