Casting Net: Liam Neeson in talks for 'Taken 3'; Plus, 'Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day' finds a lead, more

• Liam Neeson is reportedly in talks to star in a third installment of Taken, about the retired CIA agent who can’t seem to stay out of trouble. Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen are already at work on a script, but no director is currently attached. Pierre Morel directed the first installment, which brought in $145 million on an estimated $25 million budget. Olivier Megaton (Colombiana) stepped in to direct the second film, which made about $139.9 million with a $45 million production budget. Lost‘s Maggie Grace played Neeson’s daughter in both films. • Disney has found its Alexander. Puberty Blues actor Ed Oxenbould will star as the title character in Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. Based on the classic Judith Viorst children’s book, Steve Carrell and Jennifer Garner are starring as Alexander’s parents. Production is slated to begin on the project in August, with Miguel Arteta (Youth in Revolt) set to direct. [Deadline]

• Peyman Moaadi, best known for playing the conflicted father in the Oscar-winning Iranian film A Separation, is set to star opposite Kristen Stewart in the Guantanamo Bay drama Camp X-RayPeter Sattler, whose main credits so far are in graphic design on films such as Walk the Line and Star Trek, will direct the film off of a script he wrote. In Camp X-Ray, Cole (Stewart) enlists and finds herself stationed at Guantanamo where she is mostly met with vitriol and hatred. She does make a connection with one prisoner, though, who will be played by Moaadi. With the help of executive producer David Gordon GreenCamp X-Ray is expected to shoot this summer in Los Angeles. • Paz Vega (Spanglish) will star alongside Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker) in the true-life action film Kill the Messenger about Gary Webb, the journalist who reported on the CIA’s involvement in cocaine trafficking to fund the Contras. Michael Cuesta, who has directed various episodes of Homeland including “The Choice,” will helm the film. Vega will play the part of an imprisoned drug dealer’s girlfriend who tries to get Webb’s help. [THR]

• Chris Rock has added Think Like a Man stars Kevin Hart, J.B. Smoove, and Sherri Shepherd to Finally Famous, his new comedy about what happens when a comedian tries to make the transition into serious roles. Gabrielle Union and Rosario Dawson also star. Rock will star in, direct, and produce the project. [The Wrap]

• Jordana Brewster (Fast & Furious 6), Adrien Brody (The Pianist), Hayden Christensen (Jumper), and Akon (Black November) have all joined a remake of the Steve McQueen movie The Great St. Louis Bank Robbery. Called American Heist, the story will follow a pair of troubled brothers who decide to team up to rob a bank. Sarik Andreasyan will make his English language directorial debut on the project. [THR]

Once Upon a Time‘s Sarah Bolger has signed on to appear in Reawakening, with Mark Duplass (The League) and Olivia Wilde (Drinking Buddies). In addition to playing Princess Aurora on the ABC show, Bolger also played Mary Tudor on Showtime’s The Tudors. [Variety]
