Report: 'Grace of Monaco' pushed to a Spring 2014 release

Grace of Monaco, the Grace Kelly biopic starring Nicole Kidman, has been bumped out of the fall slate to a Spring 2014 release just one week after the trailer debuted online, THR reports.

The movie, directed by Olivier Dahan (La Vie en Rose) had been originally set for a limited release on Nov. 27, which would place the film solidly amongst other awards season hopefuls — including the other Princess biopic, Diana (out Nov. 1).

Grace of Monaco chronicles six months of Kelly’s life after she had decided to leave Hollywood behind for Monaco’s Prince Rainier (portrayed by Tim Roth) and a very different lifestyle. “The idea of being a princess and an actress, it’s incongruous,” star Nicole Kidman told EW earlier this year. Kidman said she identified with ”a woman leaving her art, leaving the thing she’s passionate about, to go and create a home and a family.”

According to the report, The Weinstein Company determined that the movie is not ready for a release yet, and needs more time to finish. TWC did not immediately respond to EW’s request for comment.
