Fans of Cassandra Clare’s fantasy book series may get another big-screen adventure.

The Mortal Instruments sequel, The Mortal Instruments: City of Ashes, is moving forward, EW has confirmed; The Hollywood Reporter first reported the news. Originally, the sequel was set to begin filming this past September, but after a disappointing return on the first film, those plans were delayed — and reportedly scrapped, although a rep for Constantin Film tells EW that was never the case.

The first installment of the YA franchise, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, starring Lily Collins and Jamie Campbell Bower, received poor reviews and underperformed at the box office when it opened in August, grossing about $31 million against a $60 million budget.

“We are analyzing what we did wrong with the first film — particularly with the positioning and marketing — and what changes we have to make,” Martin Moszkowicz, Constantin Film’s head of film and TV, told The Reporter. “We are working with a great group of people to reposition the franchise [for City of Ashes].”

The film hopes to resume production some time next year. Originally, Sigourney Weaver had been attached to join the franchise’s second installment as head of the Shadow Hunters.
