Casting Net: Idris Elba will battle terrorists in 'Bastille Day'; Plus, 'Terminator' rumors, more

• Idris Elba (Thor: The Dark World) has signed on to star in the thriller Bastille Day, which finds a young artist and a former CIA agent teaming up on an anti-terrorist mission in France. Baran bo Odar (The Silence) is set to direct. Andrew Baldwin (The Outsider) penned the script. Elba can be seen next as Nelson Mandela in the biopic Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom (out Dec. 18). • Alan Taylor, who is directing the Terminator reboot, is reportedly set to meet with actresses to take on the role of a young Sarah Connor. So far the reported potentials include Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones), Brie Larson (Short Term 12), and Margot Robbie (The Wolf of Wall Street). Linda Hamilton originated the role for James Cameron in the 1984 film. [THR]

Downton Abbey alum Dan Stevens will portray Lancelot in the London-set Night at the Museum 3. Franchise star Ben Stiller is expected to reprise his role from the first two films. [Deadline]

• Jason Statham (Safe), has acquired the rights to Viva La Madness, author J.J. Connolly’s follow-up to Layer Cake, which Matthew Vaughn adapted for the big screen in 2004. Statham would star as the nameless anti-hero who Daniel Craig portrayed previously. [Deadline]

• Mark Strong (Low Winter Sun) will star as a NASA pilot on a mission to Mars in Inexplorata for director Mark Elijah Rosenberg. [Deadline]

• Callan McAuliffe (The Great Gatsby), will play the lead in the indie Hacker, about a teenage member of an online criminal network. Akan Satayev will direct. [Deadline]
