While The Lego Movie and About Last Night may have been neck-and-neck at the box office on Valentine’s Day, it was the former which ultimately won the weekend with awesome ease. In all, The Lego Movie constructed an estimated total of $48.81 million for the three-day period, making for a cumulative total of $129.11 million in its second week of release. About Last Night earned $13 million on Friday, just a smidge less than The Lego Movie, and received an A- cinemascore. But the Kevin Hart-starring romantic comedy could not compete with Lego once love began to disappear from the air, ultimately earning an impressive but not Lego impressive $27 million over the three-day frame.

After something of a tepid, East Coast storm-hindered box office start, RoboCop found a large number of moviegoers ready to comply. Released Wednesday, this remake of Paul Verhoeven’s classic sci fi-actioner raked in $26.45 million over five days and $21.5 million for the weekend.

Outside of the top three, The Monuments Men continued to suggest that movie stars’ willingness to goof around on TV can overcome negative reviews, with a second week take of $15 million. That was enough to push the weekend’s third ’80s reboot, the Alex Pettyfer-starring Endless Love, into fifth place.

Finally, the romantic fantasy Winter’s Tale  — which stars Colin Farrell and Russell Crowe — revealed some very soggy feet, making just $7.79m.

1. The Lego Movie — $48.81 million
2. About Last Night — $27 million
3. RoboCop — $21.5 million
4. The Monuments Men — $15 million

5. Endless Love — $13.4 million

Can director Paul W.S. Anderson’s volcano movie Pompeii or the Kevin Costner-starring spy film 3 Days To Kill stop The Lego Movie from taking pole position for the third time? Check back next week to find out.
