UPDATE: When reached by EW, Disney and Lucasfilm both had no comment.

Adam Driver may be preparing to go from Greenpoint to a galaxy far, far away.

Variety is reporting that the Girls star is nearing a deal to play the villain in J.J. Abrams’ secretive¬†Star Wars: Episode VII,¬†set to hit theaters on Dec. 18, 2015.

At 30, Driver is best-known for playing Hannah’s eccentric boyfriend Adam on HBO’s Girls. He’s also had memorable supporting roles in the Coen Brothers’ Inside Llewyn Davis, Noah Baumbach’s Frances Ha, Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln.

Details are scarce. The Variety report says that his role will be “in the vein of iconic Star Wars villain Darth Vader,” and that Michael Fassbender and Hugo Weaving were also considered for the role. Though Driver’s name has been circling the project for some time (as have many, many other names in Hollywood), reports single out his Girls shooting schedule as the main conflict. A role in a Star Wars franchise is not just a one season headache after all.

More casting announcements, official and rumored, should begin flooding in after months of speculation and hype as the film is supposed to begin production this spring in London.

Disney and Lucasfilm had no comment.
