There is a Cold War brewing between Hollywood’s two major Marvel franchises: Which Quicksilver is the best Quicksilver? Will it be the Quicksilver of X-Men: Days of Future Past, with his insouciant goggles? Or will it be the Quicksilver of Avengers: Age of Ultron, which, based on the concept art, would be 100 percent less goggle-y? The war heated up Monday with the release of a Future Past trailer that confirmed that Evan Peters’ Quicksilver is a Pink Floyd fan.

Now, pictures from the set of Avengers: Age of Ultron have just appeared, showing Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s Quicksilver alongside Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch — not to mention the returning Jeremy Renner (woohoo, Hawkeye!) and a robot-like character who could very well be that Ultron fellow everyone’s talking about. Let’s take a look and pass immediate cruel judgment upon their costume choices!

Olson’s Scarlet Witch looks pretty cool, rocking a cool red jacket, a black dress, and some cosplay-ready wrist-wear and shin-wear. Notably, she does not have red hair like the comic book incarnation — which is probably a good thing, since there’s only room for one faux-ginger on this superteam, missy! Likelihood That This Will Be A Popular Comic-Con Costume: 9 out of 10

And here’s her bro Quicksilver, rocking some nifty blue-white running gear. Like the Future Past speedster, this Quicksilver has some wild hair, although it looks more “Surfer-Bro Bleached Bedhead” than Peters’ “Targaryen Half-Sibling” long hair. These clothes also look a bit more functional. Like, I’m pretty sure I’ve seen guys wearing that shirt at the gym. Likelihood That This Will Be A Popular Comic-Con Costume: 8 out of 10

And then there’s this borg’d-out figure, shown here in a stance that seems to say, “I just entered the scene by dramatically jumping from a high place, and now I’m going to fight me some superheroes.” Is this Ultron? Marvel has said that James Spader will play the villain via performance capture — it could be that this is just an on-set double, something for Jeremy Renner to fire arrows at. Still, what little we can see here looks cool, in a Terminator-meets-Guyver way. Of course, it’s all gonna be about the face. Likelihood That This Will Be A Popular Comic-Con Costume: TBD. Probably high. This is Avengers 2, after all.
