Casting Net: Chiwetel Ejiofor could be the next Bond villain; Plus, Ryan Reynolds, more

• Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave) is reportedly the front-runner to antagonize James Bond in the next film in the series. According to the report, no offer has been made yet. Daniel Craig will return to star as 007, and Sam Mendes, who directed him in Skyfall, is returning to direct. Production is supposed to begin this summer on Bond 24, scheduled for a Nov. 6, 2015, release date. [The Wrap]

• Ryan Reynolds is set to join the Helen Mirren pic Woman in Gold about a WWII survivor determined to reclaim paintings from the Austrian government. Reynolds will play Mirren’s character’s attorney, while Rush‘s Daniel Bruhl is in negotiations to play the opposing counsel. Simon Curtis (My Week With Marilyn) will direct. [Deadline]

• Benicio del Toro is in talks to join Emily Blunt in Sicario from director Denis Villeneuve (Prisoners). [Variety]

True Detective‘s Michelle Monaghan has joined the cast of Pixels, starring Adam Sandler, Kevin James, and Josh Gad. Chris Columbus will direct the pic about aliens who attack earth using ’80s video game strategies. James plays the president, who enlists his childhood gamer buddies to take down the enemy. Monaghan will play a weapons developer. Peter Dinklage is also in talks to star. [THR]

• Vince Vaughn is set to bring Jim Rockford to life in a feature adaptation of the ’70s NBC show The Rockford Files. James Garner originated the role in the series about a smooth-talking private eye in Malibu. Prince of Thieves author Chuck Hogan will write the adaptation. [Deadline]

• Keanu Reeves is attached to star in Eli Roth‘s Knock Knock, a psychological thriller about a family man who’s alone for the weekend and gets a visit from two gorgeous women. Then things get weird. [Deadline]

• Amy Ryan (Gone Baby Gone) and Jillian Bell (Workaholics) will be joining Jack Black in Goosebumps. Rob Letterman (Monsters vs. Aliens) is set to direct. [The Wrap]

• Milo Ventimiglia (Heroes) has joined the indie drama Madtown, about a kid whose sister murdered their abusive parents. He meets up with his sister again as an adult after she’s released from prison. [Variety]

Merlin‘s Katie McGrath and comedian Lauren Lapkus (The To Do List) have boarded Jurassic World. [THR]
