Goonies director Richard Donner says a sequel to the beloved 1985 film is on the way. Goonies never say die, after all.

In a video shot by TMZ, the Superman helmer is asked if he would ever do another comic book movie. “If you call Goonies a comic book,” he replies. “We’re doing a sequel.”

But hold off on doing a celebratory Truffle Shuffle just yet. When pressed which cast members from the original Warner Bros. film will return for Goonies 2, Donner says, “Hopefully all of them!”

Sean Astin told IGN in 2012 that he’d absolutely be on board for a second film. “It will happen,” he said. “I’m 1,000 percent certain there will be a sequel. I will bet my children on it.”

But including Josh Brolin and Corey Feldman? That seems much more unlikely. “Oh my God,” Feldman is quoted in the same story. “I am betting no child on this matter.”

Warner Bros. didn’t immediately return our requests for comment.

There are other lingering question marks in this story. Namely: Why mess with the legacy of such a perfect cult classic? (Nostalgia? Money? Fine, but I still don’t like it.) And just because Donner says a sequel is happening doesn’t make it so. Like Dan Aykroyd hyping Ghostbusters 3 for over a decade, I’ll believe it when we’ve got some production dates — even tentative ones — to talk about.
