For his directorial debut Bad Words, Jason Bateman took on the raunchy underbelly of spelling bee tournaments–or, at least posited a situation where a rule-bending, middle-aged grump forced participants to the lowest common denominator. Now, the Arrested Development star has set his sights on a new project: an untitled “FBI wedding comedy” for Universal Pictures.

What that combination of words means, exactly, is unclear. There’s no logline attached to the pic at the moment, but The Pest screenwriter David Bar Katz is writing the latest draft of the script, and Bateman will once again direct and star. The comedy was acquired from Warner Bros. in 2011, originally as a starring vehicle for Steve Carell.

Bateman is a busy man lately. In addition to two major releases this year, including This Is Where I Leave You (Sept. 19) and Horrible Bosses 2 (Nov. 26), he’s also gearing up to direct and star in the adaptation of Kevin Wilson’s quirky novel The Family Fang. His cast includes Nicole Kidman and Christopher Walken. Bateman is eyeing a mid-July New York shoot for that outing.
