See Christian Bale's 'Batman Begins' audition... opposite Amy Adams?

There are a lot of bat-goodies contained within the 90 minutes of new special features on Warner Bros.’s new Dark Knight Trilogy Ultimate Collector’s Edition Blu-ray. (Try saying that three times fast.) But this clip could very well be the collection’s coolest moment. It’s pre-Batman Christian Bale! Doing a screen test for Batman Begins! Wearing Val Kilmer’s old batsuit from Batman Forever. And acting opposite… Amy Adams! (Don’t get too glum thinking about what might have been, Katie Holmes haters — she was only there as a favor to the movie’s casting director.)

As the video proves, Bale’s rumbly batvoice was there from the very beginning — before the beginning, even. “He had decided that Batman had to have a different voice… that he had to put on a voice,” director/co-writer Christopher Nolan explains over footage of the screen test.

And evidently, that simple acting choice was a major factor in Bale’s ultimate casting. READ FULL STORY

'Django,' 'Ted,' 'Silver Linings' lead 2013 MTV Movie Award nominations

Awards season: it’s not actually over!

Two Best Picture runners-up and a raunchy comedy about a talking toy lead the MTV Movie Award nominations, which were announced live on the network tonight. Both Django Unchained and Ted scored big with seven nominations apiece; Silver Linings Playbook also did well, garnering six total nominations. Unsurprisingly, almost all of them had something to do with newly-crowned Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence — the outspoken starlet scored five nods altogether, including one for her performance in the horror film House at the End of the Street.

The awards will be handed out live on April 14 during a ceremony hosted by Rebel Wilson, a double nominee herself for Pitch Perfect. Check out the full list of nominees below — and don’t forget to vote for your favorites at MovieAwards.MTV.com.

Aurora shooting victim appears in gun control PSA -- VIDEO

While attending a midnight showing of The Dark Knight Rises in Aurora, Colo. this summer, Stephen Barton was shot in the face and neck. But compared to several other victims, he was lucky; Barton lived, and now he’s working to raise awareness of gun violence. According to his new PSA, 48,000 Americans will be shot and murdered during the next four years — “enough to fill over 200 theaters.” He urges viewers to visit DemandAPlan.org, an organization that’s working to end gun violence. See Barton’s poignant PSA below.

Report: 'Dark Knight Rises' Blu-ray rumored to include Director's Cut

Maybe, just maybe, we’ll be able to find out just what Bane meant when he said, “You only adopted the dark; I was born in it.” (Or, more accurately, “rawrrkkkssofffflll bbrrooddmmmm.”)

Rumors are circulating on the internet that the Blu-ray release of The Dark Knight Rises could include an extended director’s cut. Alleged to run a full 30 minutes longer than the 165-minute theatrical cut, the extended version is said to feature scenes depicting Bane’s origin and more screen time for Liam Neeson’s Ra’s Al Ghul.

Here’s why we’re skeptical:

1. It’s a rumor.  On the internet.
2. Nolan has never released extended director’s cuts of any of his other feature films.
3. As a perfectionist, it’s unlikely that Nolan gave the OK to a truncated or incomplete film for wide release. READ FULL STORY
