The Dumb and Dumber sequel has had its share of problems: Being dropped by Warner Bros. Being sued by everybody. But still it endures, like some kind of purely metaphorical decapitated bird with its head held on by scotch tape. And just like that decapitated bird, Dumb and Dumber To will amuse blind children everywhere — a fact made clear when returning star Jim Carrey posted a photo of himself getting back into character as Lloyd Christmas. The sequel to Dumb and Dumber has hit a road block. The in-development follow-up to the hit 1994 comedy was in the works at New Line Cinema, but New Line’s parent company, Warner Bros., has dropped the project, EW confirmed Tuesday. THR first reported the news.
Bobby and Peter Farrelly — the writer-director brothers who created the original — are now searching for a new financier and distributor for Dumb and Dumber To (yes, that’s the title). Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels are expected to return as short-on-smarts pair Lloyd and Harry. In the sequel, the two friends will go on a road trip to find Harry’s illegitimate daughter for a kidney transplant. READ FULL STORY
Peter Farrelly and producers Charles Wessler and John Penotti talk 'Movie 43' -- plus, the latest on the 'Dumb and Dumber' sequel
It’s being billed as “The Biggest Cast Ever Assembled For the Most Outrageous Comedy Ever Made.” Yes, those are seriously big words. But the fact is, it’s hard to think of any comedy that’s paired A-list star power with R-rated raunch and wrongness to quite the same degree as Movie 43, opening Friday—and if that sounds like hype, check out this NSFW red-band trailer. The cast of the film—which is made up of a series of interrelated shorts shot by 12 different directors, spearheaded by Peter Farrelly — reads like a who’s who of actors you’d never expect to see in a demented, envelope-pushing Kentucky Fried Movie-style comedy (Kate Winslet, Naomi Watts, Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry, Gerard Butler, Richard Gere, Uma Thurman, Terrence Howard, Dennis Quaid), along with some people who make at least a bit more sense (Emma Stone, Elizabeth Banks, Anna Faris, Justin Long, Johnny Knoxville).
For nearly four years, this oddball project has been shrouded in secrecy—so much so that even some of the actors involved may not be totally clear on what exactly it is. “We did it, and then cut to a year or something later they’re like, ‘Hey there’s a movie coming out,’ ” Schreiber told EW recently. “I’m like, ‘Uh-oh.’ But you know, you do these things. We’ll see. It was a goof.”
So what exactly is Movie 43? We got producer and director Peter Farrelly and producers Charles Wessler and John Penotti on the phone to explain. READ FULL STORY
Could Dumb & Dumber‘s Lloyd and Harry finally be reuniting? Peter and Bobby Farrelly tweeted this week that they are nearly finished writing the script to Dumb and Dumber To, the official sequel to their 1994 hit that has a much better intentionally stupid title than 2003′s nominally unofficial prequel Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd.
The Farrelly brothers had announced in April that they were going to begin filming the sequel this fall, with Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels set to reprise their roles. But then Jim Carrey reportedly withdrew from the film in June out of frustration that the studios involved — Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema — weren’t moving the project forward. READ FULL STORY
So you’re saying there’s a chance…?
Actually, maybe not.
Jim Carrey has withdrawn from plans to reunite with Jeff Daniels and the Farrelly brothers for a sequel to their 1994 hit comedy, Dumb and Dumber. A spokesperson for the actor confirmed an Entertainment Tonight report that he’d grown “increasingly frustrated” by the lack of progress and enthusiasm from Warner Bros. and New Line. “I would have thought Dumb and Dumber To was a no-brainer,” Carrey said in a statement. “After all it’s implied in the title.”
In April, while promoting The Three Stooges, the Farrellys had announced that the original cast would return for a sequel that would begin shooting this September.
Carrey’s comment seems to indicate that he still has an interest in revisiting the Dumb duo, if circumstances improve.

‘Dumb & Dumber’ sequel ‘is in motion’: Would you see a follow-up starring Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels?
‘Anchorman’ sequel speculation: This movie’s kind of a big deal. What should we expect?
Peter and Bobby Farrelly have been quietly developing a sequel to Dumb and Dumber for awhile now. Back in October, we heard that Sean Anders and John Morris — the comedy screenwriting duo behind Hot Tub Time Machine and Mr. Popper’s Penguins — were hard at work on a script. That was the last bit of news about the project…at least until this weekend, when Peter Farrelly dropped a Twitter-imploding bombshell in the middle of a Three Stooges press junket. “We’re getting set to shoot Dumb and Dumber 2 in September,” the director told ComingSoon.net. “We’ve got Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels back.” READ FULL STORY
