Eva Longoria explores 'Food Chains' in new documentary from 'Fast Food Nation' writer

As executive producer Eva Longoria points out in her new documentary Food Chains, the hands that sort much of America’s food are themselves often forced to live hand-to-mouth due to exploitative policies established by businesses involved with commercial agriculture.

In an exclusive trailer for the film, Longoria joins Robert F. Kennedy Jr., fellow producer Eric Schlosser (Fast Food Nation), and other activists in arguing to stop the systemic (and sometimes physical) abuse of farm workers while securing their rights. • Eva Longoria has signed on to star in the Blumhouse horror pic Visions, alongside Isla Fisher (Wedding Crashers), Gillian Jacobs (Community), and Anson Mount (Hell on Wheels). Jim Parsons (The Big Bang Theory) is also in talks to join the movie about a pregnant woman (Fisher) who’s haunted by visions of a “sinister hooded figure.” Kevin Greutert (Saw VI) is set to direct. Longoria, who plays Fisher’s character’s best friend in the film, recently wrapped the drama Frontera with Michael Pena and Ed Harris and is currently filming Demian Bichir’s Refugio. Casting Net: Steve Martin and Jennifer Lopez team up for 'Home'; Plus, Sean Bean, more

• Steve Martin and Jennifer Lopez will lend their voices to DreamWorks Animation’s alien invasion comedy Home, based on Adam Rex’s children’s book The True Meaning of Smekday. Rihanna voices the main character, Gratuity Tucci (or Tip), whose mother (Lopez) was abducted by the Boov (aka aliens). Martin will voice Captain Smek, their leader, who is attempting to force all the humans to relocate to Florida. Jim Parsons will voice a Boov (coincidentally) called J.Lo, who befriends Tip. • Hugh Jackman (The Wolverine) may take on an antagonist role in Neill Blomkamp’s next venture Chappie. The Elysium director has also recruited Sharlto Copley and Dev Patel to tell the story of a robot who gets abducted by two gangsters angling to use it for their own illegal needs. The Les Miserables star confirmed his involvement during a press conference for his recently released Prisoners, and will be traveling to South Africa to film his scenes at the beginning of next year.
