Fred Armisen, Judy Greer to star alongside Billie Joe Armstrong in 'Geezer'

Fred Armisen, Judy Greer, and Selma Blair have been cast alongside Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong in Geezer.

Lee Kirk is directing the music comedy, which also stars Dallas Roberts, Chris Messina, and Brian Baumgartner.

The story follows a husband and father in the midst of his mid-life crisis who, in an attempt to reconnect with his punk-rock roots, holds a lavish 40th birthday party in the presidential suite of the Drake Hotel. There, he runs into his ex-girlfriend and former bandmates who have moved on with their lives.

Armstrong wrote new songs for the film, which he will also perform. Process Media’s Tim Perell and Let It Play’s Alex A. Ginzburg and Tony Lee are producing.

The Ant-Man now has some company: Judy Greer, John Slattery, and T.I. will all appear in Marvel’s upcoming Ant-Man, which started filming in San Francisco Monday.

As previously announced, Paul Rudd is playing the title character, also known as Scott Lang, in the Marvel Studios adaptationMichael Douglas and Evangeline Lilly are co-starring, and the cast also includes House of CardsCorey StollDanny Collins‘ Bobby Cannavale, End of Watch‘s Michael PeñaThe Dark Knight’s David Dastmalchian, Togetherness‘ Abby Ryder Fortson, comedian Gregg Turkington, and The Wire‘s Wood Harris.

• George Clooney and Judy Greer have been working together for over 14 years: First in 1999’s Three Kings, then in 2011’s The Descendents, and now, they may be re-teaming for Disney’s Tomorrowland. Directed by Brad Bird with a script from Damon Lindelof and EW’s own Jeff Jensen, the secretive project also stars Hugh Laurie and Britt Robinson. Greer has made a career of playing quirky character roles and best friend parts in romantic comedies since she broke out in 1999 with the dark comedy Jawbreaker and the aforementioned Three Kings. Dermot Mulroney has joined Jobs, the currently filming indie biopic of Apple Computer co-founder Steve Jobs (Ashton Kutcher). He’ll play Mike Markkula, one of the earliest investors in the Silicon Valley company. Joshua Michael Ster(Swing Vote) is directing from a script by first-time feature screenwriter Matt Whiteley. • Judy Greer (The Descendants) and Portia Doubleday (Youth in Revolt) have signed on to director Kimberly Peirce‘s remake of Stephen King’s novel Carrie. Greer will play gym teacher Miss Collins, one of the only characters who’s kind to Carrie White (Chloe Moretz); and Doubleday will play Chris Hargensen, the ringleader of the popular kids who torment Carrie.
