CinemaCon 2012: Will 'Total Recall' remake feature woman with three boobs?

There are a lot of questions about the upcoming Total Recall remake.

Will Colin Farrell be able to fill the action-hero shoes of Arnold Schwarzenegger? How closely will the remake stick to the original Philip K. Dick story, and how much will it take from the 1990 movie version? Can Kate Beckinsale be as alluring (and duplicitous) as Sharon Stone?

Most of that can only be answered when the film finally debuts on Aug. 3, but footage previewed by Sony Pictures at CinemaCon tonight did answer the question already posed in our headline.

Miley Cyrus & Demi Moore star in new 'LOL' trailer -- VIDEO

We’re guessing Miley Cyrus knows a few things about being a hard-partying teen, so it’s not surprising to see her playing a wild child who’s finding her way around teen angst in her next film. Oh, she’s just being Miley! Cyrus stars in LOL, the remake of the 2008 French comedy of the same name, alongside Demi Moore, Ashley Greene, and Brit Douglas Booth. In the romantic dramedy for the teen set, party girl Lola (Cyrus) discovers her boyfriend cheated on her and decides to get revenge by dating one of her close friends (Booth). As expected, things don’t go as planned for Lola when she ends up falling for the BFF. Along the way, she gets into a few arguments with her teachers and her overprotective single mom (Moore).

A new trailer for LOL recently surfaced online. In the short clip, we get a glimpse of a few party scenes and a whole lot of texting, status updates, and high school romance.

'Total Recall' trailer: Kate Beckinsale vs. Jessica Biel...TO THE DEATH!!!

The full trailer for this August’s vaguely anticipated Total Recall remake hit the Internet yesterday. The plot outline remains roughly the same as the outlandish 1990 classic: An everyman feels dissatisfied with his perfect life and is haunted by dreams of a more exciting existence, so he visits his friendly neighborhood memory implant service. Tonally, though, this new Recall suggests a futuristic Bourne, with Colin Farrell suddenly discovering a remarkable array of secret-agent Krav Maga skills. Also, Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel get into a fight, and every time they punch each other, it sounds like a metal fist punching a mushroom cloud. Also, John Cho and Bryan Cranston both wear wigs. Curiously, there is still no sign of the three-breasted mutant prostitute. READ FULL STORY

'Chariots of Fire' heads back to theaters

Cue the faux slo-mo trod over dramatic notes duh-da-da-da-dah-dah. (We’ve all done it.) The British Institute and London Olympic organizers are teaming up to bring Chariots of Fire back to British theaters July 13, in advance of London’s Summer Olympic Games.

Based on a true story, the film follows two runners (played by Ben Cross and Ian Charleson) whose quest to qualify for the 1920 Olympics is complicated by their religious convictions. Chariots of Fire shocked Hollywood at the 1982 Oscars, winning Best Picture, as well as trophies for original screenplay, costume design, and original score. The title theme, by Vangelis, topped the popular music charts in May 1982 and became the one-hit wonder guaranteed to stay in our heads all day.

Hailee Steinfeld begins 'Romeo and Juliet' in Italy

Hailee Steinfeld and Douglas Booth (The Pillars of the Earth) are now officially star-crossed lovers. The young actors began shooting Romeo and Juliet in Italy, it was announced today. The new cinematic adaptation of Shakespeare’s most famous tragedy, written by Downton Abbey‘s Julian Fellowes and directed by Carlo Carlei (Fluke), features a menagerie of familiar faces, including Homeland‘s Damian Lewis (Lord Capulet), Californication‘s Natascha McElhone (Lady Capulet), Another Year‘s Lesley Manville (Nurse), Ed Westwick (Tybalt), Let Me In‘s Kodi Smit-McPhee (Benvolio), Paul Giamatti (Friar Laurence), and Stellan Skarsgard (Prince of Verona).

“Every generation is interested in love,” said Fellowes, in a statement. “I mean, there is something about young love that is heartbreaking, and I think every teenager in the world would agree. All of that is very powerful. The point about teenage love is it’s before cynicism comes in to reshape one’s attitudes. You love when you’re young in a way that you’ll probably never love again.”

'Police Academy' remake underway with 'Tosh.0' director

Maybe this will be what finally coaxes Steve Guttenberg out of hiding?

After news first broke of a possible remake to the 1984 comedy Police Academy almost two years ago, EW has confirmed that New Line Cinema has hired director Scott Zabielski to helm a new version of the so-bad-it’s-good cult favorite that spawned no less than six sequels. Zabielski, who is making his feature directing debut, cut his teeth directing episodes of the Comedy Central hit Tosh.0, so he obviously knows from smart aleck renegades striving to buck the system. He is also, amazingly, a reserve police officer with the City of West Hollywood.

A rep for New Line says there is no word yet on casting.

Baz Luhrmann injured on 'Gatsby' set: Report

Great-Gatsby-movie-Baz_320.jpg Image Credit: WireImage.com Production on The Great Gatsby will resume after the start of the new year to give director Baz Luhrmann a chance to recover from an injury he incurred while filming in Australia.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Luhrmann was directing a scene from the remake that stars Leonard DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire when he bumped into a camera crane. Explained co-producer Anton Monsted, ”We were on quite a cramped set and he was ducking under the crane. He struck his head on the weights on the end of the camera crane. He split open his head and we had to get the doctor.”

Luhrmann required three stitches to his head. As a result, production was stopped early in Sydney so the cast could get home earlier than planned for the holidays. They will return for additional shots in January.

”There’s a few days owing due to rain and then there will also be what we would have shot … had we continued filming after Baz’s injury,” Monsted told the newspaper.

The movie is set for release on Christmas in 2012.
