Iconic actress Meryl Streep is in early negotiations to play iconic culinary legend Julia Child in the film adaptation of Julie Powell’s best-selling book Julie & Julia for Sony Pictures. Amy Adams (Enchanted) is also in early negotiations to play Julie, the 30-something disgruntled temp worker who spends a year cooking all 524 recipes in Julia Child’s Mastering the Art of French Cooking. Sony wouldn’t confirm the deals but sources speculate that the project, with Nora Ephron (Sleepless in Seattle) attached to write and direct, would begin filming in early 2008 after Streep completes her work on Universal Pictures’ musical Mamma Mia!
