Juno
star Ellen Page is sure putting her Oscar nomination to good use. She’s signed on to star opposite Cillian Murphy (Batman Begins) in the psychological thriller Peacock. The film marks the third new project Page has joined in the last two months, all for production company Mandate, the group behind Juno. (The other two are Drew Barrymore’s directorial debut, Whip It!, about a roller derby girl, and Sam Raimi’s horror film Drag Me to Hell.) Peacock centers around Murphy’s character, a split personality, who fools the small town of Peacock, Nebraska, into believing his two personalities are man and wife. Page stars as a struggling mother who holds the key to Murphy’s character’s past, sparking a battle between his two personalities. Michael Lander will be making his feature directing debut on the script he co-wrote with Ryan Roy. Barry Mendel (Munich) will produce the film.

Ellen Page is the best thing to come out of Canada since universal health care. Such a cutie!

let’s see if she actually acts more than her one-note juno performance

  • jes

One note? Have you seen Hard Candy? Girl’s got chops.

  • G

She is hardly a one-note actress and is not new to the business. Check out ReGenesis for starters. FYI Juno was hardly a star-making vehicle… it is a $6 million dollar Canadian flick that the public and media happen to find appealing. Maybe you’d prefer Lindsay Lohan if there’s a sequel…!

she’s playing a mother? she was playing a fourteen-year-old girl two years ago and we were supposed to suspend disbelief for juno just this past year.

I loved Juno! one of the best cleverly scripted comedies to come along in such a long time. The next one to look out for is apparently Charlie Bartlett, and Bonneville, according to my sources

Just discovered a complete list of all marked down products at Amazon, sorted by category
and % off, ranging from 50% off to 90% off (thanks Sonja for the effort).
Actually I never thought Amazon would have articles with 90% off, but only in the category
Electronics there are more than 3000 of them – look for yourself, the list is on

    or on http://digg.com/gadgets/Actually_I_never_thought_Amazon_would_have_articles_with_90
(which is a blog of a woman who specializes in finding good deals at Amazon, like Britain’s “Jeanie”).

They were filming in rainy downtown Des Moines last night. Had the street blocked off with lots of police and security. We could sit in the bar and watch what they were doing

  • kat

    OMGirl,
did you actually see Ellen or Cillian Murphy???? How exciting…

  • meg

Actually, they were filming for a different movie called South Dakota– they don’t start filming in Des Moines until the 6th for this one
