Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke confirms to EW.com that she’s currently overseeing reshoots on her adaptation of Stephenie Meyer‘s book (now opening Nov. 21). “It’s pretty cool,” Hardwicke e-mails from Pasadena, Calif., where she’s filming the new material. “We got to shoot some things I really
wanted.” While reshoots often hint that there may be a problem with a movie, that doesn’t appear to be the case with Twilight, whose initial 44-day Oregon production faced multiple weather-related difficulties.
Thus, a few key aspects of the production are getting further attention. One redone scene shows Edward (Robert Pattinson) playing Bella’s lullaby. During the movie’s initial shoot, Pattinson performed the scene while improvising with his own music; now he’s playing the actual song, which has been written by veteran film composer Carter Burwell (best known for working with the Coen brothers). “[Pattinson] is a great pianist, long vampire fingers,” Hardwicke says. And if that doesn’t whet your appetite, Hardwicke also reshot the bedroom kissing scene on Thursday. The first time around, Kristen Stewart, the actress who plays Bella, was still 17, and between juggling three hours of school work per day plus numerous camera setups, the scene was never finished. Hardwicke also shot a few new scenes: more of Jacob, more on the Cullens’ backstory, and more footage in the meadow. Says the director, “It’s all just icing on the cake.”
UPDATE: Twilighters, never fear. We want to clear up one crucial fact: Rob Pattinson’s
music will in fact appear in Twilight. According to director Catherine Hardwicke, two of Pattinson’s songs that he wrote before Twilight started
filming are going to be featured in the movie. In fact, they recorded
them this month. And while Hardwicke wanted Pattinson to write Bella’s
Lullaby for the film, Hardwicke says Pattinson’s music is very
personal. “I don’t think he does it on request,” she writes in an
e-mail. “His two songs are pretty great.”

I AM SO UPSET THAT THEY DIDN’T LET ROBERT WRITE BELLA’S LULLABY!!!!! HE IS A SPECTACULAR MUSICIAN!!!
You know what reshoots mean. The movie’s gonna blow!
I Love Twilight
Can I totally say “I told you so” for the whole back story thing? lol.
I hope Twilight will still be a good movie. Though usually, if a movie does reshoots, it’s because some scenes didn’t go over well with the test audience.
I want to see Edward’s reaction to being bitten. I’d love to see his life when he rejects the Cullens for a while and goes off to do some killing.
Wait. I live in LA. I want to go see the reshoots! I wonder where they are?
They were already planning to come back to Oregon and shoot more stuff when they finished the primary photography (I know weather messed with some of it, especially the beach scene). I don’t know about the new scenes though.
oh my gosh!!!! im so excited!! Bella’s lullabye, the kissing scence, Cullen backstory, and more meadow scenes!!!! eeeeppppp!!!! I LOVE EDWARD CULLEN!!!! Warning: Unstable due to the influence of E.C.
I could watch hours and hours of Rob Pattinson. Never had a crush like this before. I really admire him as an actor.
I agree I want Edward’s back story. Not interested in Jacob at all. they had better show us Edward’s time apart from Bella in New Moon. Rob is the big reason I want to see these fims. He’s so special
These reshoots are fantastic news. They don’t indicate a bomb, in fact, just the opposite. The filmmakers clearly want to make this picture as popular as the book that inspired it, and the filming of these scenes will round out what already appears to be THE movie to see this Fall.
Finally, we get some good news about Twilight. We needed some after the Midnight Sun stuff last night.
So was the meadow scene to redo the sparkle bit. I bet they are spending more money on it than planned.
I am so burned out on Twilight. Although an author about the tantrum Stephenie threw about Midnight Sun would be appreciated.
