The cast of Twentieth Century Fox’s upcoming fantasy adventure Percy Jackson, about a teenager who discovers that his father is the Greek god Poseidon, just got a whole lot randier. The studio has hired Steve Coogan to play the lord of the underworld, Hades, and Rosario Dawson will take on the role of his imprisoned wife, Persephone, who in this story carries on a flirtation with Percy Jackson’s teenage friend Grover, played by Brandon T. Jackson.
The duo joins Pierce Brosnan (Chiron), Uma Thurman (Medusa), Sean Bean (Zeus), Kevin McKidd (Poseidon), and Melina Kanakaredes (Athena) as fellow Greek gods on the precipice of war unless Percy (Logan Lerman), the half-human son of Poseidon, saves the day. Director Chris Columbus is currently filming the adaptation of Rick Riordan’s first novel in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, The Lightning Thief, in Vancouver, B.C., with an eye on a Feb. 12, 2010, release date.
This cast keeps getting better. I’m excited.

call me crazy but I think i would rather see one good film that covers the whole (and recently completed) series. the books are entertaining but I just can’t see them having enough to fill a whole movie each

This cast sux only a few are good and i agree with jacob percy needs to be younger and so does grover, and just change posideon and hades. They are just horrible for the part even if they are amazing actors

I’ve been reading the blogs at the movie sites and the fans of the books are disgusted! Unlike the Harry Potter movies the Percy Jackson film is straying far from the beloved and wildly popular books. I’m surprised there is no reporting on this so far.
What is up with Steve Coogan playing Hades. WTF. Isn’t Hades a badass. Steve Coogan isn’t badass material. Plus, a lot of the actors are wayyyy too old.
