A few months ago, as All About Steve came and went having revealed more about Steve than audiences could bear, I wrote in this blog Read the full post.

Will Ferrell is at the top of the list for me. I loved Anchorman, but these roles are getting old. I thought he was good in Stranger than fiction. He needs a good drama or two under his belt.

I liked him in Stranger than Fiction as well.

Maybe Natalie Portman in a comedy role. She’s a good actress, has an excellent sense of humor (did anyone see her rap on SNL? hilarious!), and would probably enjoy herself.

Don’t sleep on Sandra Bullock in Hope Floats. Sure, it was cheesy, but her acting (well, hers and the little girl who played her daughter) was the one thing that made up for the story.

Also, Kate Hudson is an awful actress. She plays the same character over and over and doesn’t do it well at all. She needs to re-invent her career or give it up.

Sandra is breaking the ‘over 40 actress’ ceiling! A year ago some jerk claimed that studios were “no longer greenlighting movies with female leads. Now? Sandra blows them away with two hits.

    Robin Williams.
I only like him when he’s playing an emotionally-mature human middle-aged man.

Of all his roles, I think I disliked his Robots character most. It seems like the role was rewritten after Robin was cast to “take advantage” of his shtick.

Whenever I watch a Time to Kill I forget that there was a time when Mathew McConaughey could act. He was so good in that movie. I’m tired of his crappy rom-coms. JA was great in Friends with Money but its hard to not see her as JA. I think Cameron Diaz keeps snatching up the serious roles from her. JA would have been much better in The Box.

I know Katherin Heigl does some serious stuff on Grey’s Anatomy but I’d like to see her do some serious stuff on the big screen. It seems like she’s getting stuck in rom-coms

I can’t believe only one other person mentioned my choice: Drew Barrymore! I want to see her do something completely dark and raw. With her acting bloodline, you know it’s in her!

When I saw this, only one person really came to mind… Adam Sandler. I think he needs to take on more mature roles (loved him in Spanglish) and ditch the juvenile stuff (even though I have not seen Reign over Me).

  • Kaye

I like the photo of Sandra Bullock accompanying the article. And for once, a movie wig that doesn’t look like one!

Sandra Bullock’s most solid performance? In my opinion it’s in “Hope Floats”.

She is unsympathetic and selfish, yet she breaks anyone’s heart. Her character is flawed and you get to witness how she grows and evolves with every breath. Beautifully understated, grossly overlooked.

Needs a serious makeover? Drew Barrymore. She has the potential to do some serious, soul-baring, eye-popping performance. If she only would give it a try and break away from all the goofy non-sense!!!
