Jennifer Garner and her production company have been attached to this much-buzzed about project Butter for the past year, and it now looks like it is finally moving forward. Something of a political satire from screenwriter Jason Micallef, Butter centers on a young orphan who upon being adopted by a Midwestern family, discovers she has an uncanny talent for butter-carving. Her abilities pit her against the ambitious wife of the retired reigning champion in a town’s annual butter-sculpting contest. (Micallef’s debut screenplay landed on both 2008′s Black List along with winning a Nicholl Fellowship.) The film, which was originally set up at Mandate Pictures, now belongs to Weinstein Co., which hired Jim Field Smith, the director behind the upcoming She’s Out of My League, to helm. Says Garner last night at the Valentine’s Day premiere, “We are just about to get greenlit, so I will be diving into butter and learning how to fake it. I am sure we will have to hire professionals to make the final products but I’m looking forward to picking up some new skills. Maybe they will come in handy during a family holiday.”
The Weinstein Company is declining comment at this time. — Additional reporting from Carrie Bell

Yay! I’ve been curious about this film ever since I saw it on the Black List.
jennifer garner is one of the most talented, honest and genuinely sweet actresses around. she’s just so wonderful and i think this movie will rock specifically because she’s a part of it!
just don’t get me started on her award snubs for juno and invention of lying (it’s a sensitive subject)
Agreed, definitely love jennifer garner never get sick of alias either.
God, I love her. This movie sounds like it might have a quirky, “Election” kind of feel to it, which is good, but it hardly matters; but as long as Jennifer Garner is in it, I will check it out.
One actress who DEFINITELY needs to win an Oscar…maybe this one will get it?
I know! I love Jennifer! She is incredible and will win an Oscar someday. I hope this film will get her, her first nom (and win). It sounds like it could be as good as Election, one of my favorite movies!
Jennifer has an amazing onscreen presence. She deserves good things
Love Jennifer but not a huge fan of this script. It doesn’t tap into larger themes the way “Election” does. It’s about these characters only, and nothing much else. Having said that, Jennifer’s role is colorful and it should be fun to see her play it.
This is amazing it will get jennifer an oscar for sure.
Idiots who say she’s getting an Oscar before the film is greenlit are just idiots…
anything that Jim Field Smith is connected to is sure to be gold!!!
Funny story…my wife works at a local shop where Jennifer Garner frequents. Mrs. Garner accidently left her money at home the other day, and my wife, not knowing who the customer was, was upset that her coworker let Mrs. Garner go without paying for the items. Well, yesterday, Mrs. Garner came by the store again and learned of the incident. Once my wife knew who “the customer” was, she was embarrassed. As everyone has spoken about thus far, Mrs. Garner carried herself with great class and dignity and laughed about the incident with my wife. As my wife said, I’m sure Mrs. Garner can afford the products that were bought. It has been impressive to see that Ben and Jennifer do not come across with egos and mistreat those of us who have not been blessed to be in their positions. I have great respect for them now.
it was amazing working in this movie with her!!she is so talented and funny, she is such a great person!
i have been waiting for this movie to come out ever simce yall filmed it out my store. i cant wait
I can’t wait to see the young remarkable talent of Yara Shahidi again on the big screen. She is so natural that you can’t help but be mesmerized by her acting abilities.
