Sources confirm New York Magazine‘s report that Angelina Jolie will not reprise her role as the highly trained assassin Fox in Wanted 2. The script for the sequel was already complete and the studio had hoped to get the film into production this year. It’s not clear now if they will proceed. While New York said Jolie has opted instead to do Alfonso Cuaron’s Gravity, which was said to have moved to Warner Bros. after it lived at Universal for years, Jolie’s reps say the actress has passed on doing Gravity at Warner Bros. It’s not yet clear as to why and sources indicate the Gravity portion of the story was quite premature. Warner Bros. is still unable to confirm whether or not Gravity is even set up with the studio. Stay tuned.

yeah but there’s the healing tub or whatever it was that heals all injuries. plus, it’s angelina jolie in leather with copious gunpower. that’s probably enough reason right there and nobody would question the logic (that was humor, kind of…)

I was just about to say the same thing. She curved her bullet at the end and killed everyone standing around in that circle, including herself. Maybe it’s a prequel.

Yeah, if you’re reading comments about a sequel to a movie and the article is about a certain actress, whose character happened to die in the first movie, ppl are naturally going to talk about it.

ONLY ANGELINA JOLIE can do justice to “Wanted” She the queen of action movies. She the best in Hollywood right now. I’m glad she passed it cause she died in the movie. I’m so excited to see “SALT”
I’d say Milla Jovovitch is the current queen of action movies, and actually wouldn’t be a half-bad choice to step into the role of Fox.
Milla Jovovich is awesome. I can’t wait for the new Resident Evil. She’s way cooler than Jolie.
I mean Milla has had her Resident Evil movies, but that’s it. Angelina was the reason most people saw Wanted in the first place. Milla hasn’t shown that she can pull people in to a non-RE movie

Huh? This article is about as clear as mud. At least the title is clear. The rest of the statements is somewhat like he said, she said. The writer did some work talking to different people who had conflicting information. Good for her! I guess that I need to write it down and publish it to the web so I can earn my paycheck. I want a WANTED sequel even without JOLIE — James McAvoy is a proven star and he made that movie what is.

I would rather base my opinion on those who finance a movie and put the project in the first place. If they wanted Jolie in it and gave her that amount of money to be there and scratch the sequel because she won’t do it, it’s obviously because they have tremendous tools to measure her pull in that movie. They know for sure that she was and still is the main draw and attraction power to the theaters all over the world. They know she brings the biggest financial share than her peers will do in those movies. They are the ones who will risk putting millions of dollars in it, convince the main investors to follow them based on verifiable facts included in the projects and analysis they gave them to get those financial means and assurances.
They certainly won’t base their judgement and perception of a star power attraction and bankability on some random people taste in the internet who think they know it all.

Generally, the producers are correct, at this moment it would appear irrelevant to do anything involving another production for “Wanted” the film. Basically, it would and will(probably)destroy the educational quotes from the original film “Wanted” itself. I’m apoligizing directly to Angelina that she is tangled in some productions that are a lost cause.

I remember when it accepted logic that if a character dies in a movie, they WON’T be back for the sequel. Especially if they get shot in the head. Besides, who really wants to see ‘Wanted 2?’ The original was a cluster-f–k disaster.
I only wish Angelina had passed (or been passed over) on playing Kay Scarpetta in the Patrica Cornwell series as well. It kind of ruins the whole thing for me and she is not at all who I picture Kay Scarpetta to be.
The only thing clear from this article is that Jolie will not be doing Wanted 2. Everything else is murky and raises more questions. Will there still be a Wanted 2? Will WB do Gravity? Will Jolie be in it? Will she do another project with Cuaron not if not Gravity? One thing that does stand out is that the Vulture piece about Gravity had an intriguing amount of info so “premature” so it maybe premature but not totally off.
