Screenwriter Diablo Cody reuniting with 'Juno' producers for new movie

She’s back. Diablo Cody, the screenwriter that took the movie world by storm in 2007 with her irreverent teenage pregnancy dramedy Juno, is returning to the big screen with her producers on Juno for a new script called Young Adult. The new script’s plot is being kept under wraps, though producers Mandate Pictures call it a “comedy with a strong dramatic backbone.” Cody will produce the film along with Mandate Pictures, Mason Novick and Lianne Halfon and Russell Smith of Mr. Mudd Productions.

Mandate has the project on a fast track. Perhaps it will be her priority over the other two projects she’s developing, the comedy-horror film Breathers: A Zombie’s Lament and the film adaptation of the ’80s book series Sweet Valley High.

Cody’s last film project was 2009′s Megan Fox-Amanda Seyfried-starrer Jennifer’s Body. She also writes and produces The United States of Tara, which just started its second season on Showtime.

I know she’s a columnist for EW and all, but she’s the most overrated screenwriter to hit Hollywood.

I agree, Juno was a horrible movie.

You’re outta your mind. Juno is an awesome movie! Never saw Jennifer’s Body, though.

And for the 1000th time EW, I do not want four free preview issues. Stop asking

Juno was a great movie, Jennifer’s Body on the other hand was not.

      Completely agree with you.

Not to mention The United States of Tara is the most uncreative thing I’ve ever watch. Every alternate personality she has is a completely clique stereotype. My 8 year old nephew writes more interesting things than that.

I loved Juno and I think Cody truly is a great writer. I don’t get all the haters. Jennifer’s Body was smart and funny, but it lacked direction. I hope they don’t try and fit this into a dozen genres like Jennifer’s Body did and just focus on the story.

I think Juno owes more to Jason Reitman than Diablo Cody… I think Cody is witty, but what Reitman brings to a project in terms of direction and creativity is evident in all of his other movies.

I liked Jennifer’s Body. Whatever happened to Girly Style?
