Ramona and Beezus helmer Elizabeth Allen is staying within the Fox family, joining Fox 2000 for their romantic comedy Is He the One?, about a woman walking down the aisle on her wedding day. Allen, a trained television editor, previously made Aquamarine — her first movie for 20th Century Fox — back in 2006, and subsequently shepherded the long-awaited film adaptation of Beverly Cleary’s classic children’s book Ramona and Beezus, which is set to bow next month.
Allen will develop the script for Is He the One? with original scribe Michelle Morgan. Katherine Heigl was previously in talks to star in the romantic comedy, but those discussions fell apart earlier this year during contract negotiations. The movie, which flashes back to the heroine’s three greatest loves before we learn whose waiting for her at the alter, currently doesn’t have its leading lady. Todd Garner and Broken Road Productions will produce. John Glickman and Cassidy Lang at Spyglass are also producing.

I don’t know about the name of the movie, but the book is called “Beezus and Ramona,” not “Ramona and Beezus.”
The movie is “Ramona and Beezus”. It’s based on all of the books, not just one of them.
The plot to Is He the One? sounds a lot like the one to the Ryan Reynolds movie Definitely, Maybe.
Yeah, that was my first thought, too.
