New Nicholas Sparks novel acquired by Relativity Media

There’s no stopping Nicholas Sparks. The prolific author of more than 15 novels has already made quite a name for himself in the movie world with six films adapted from his novels, including the recent Dear John starring Amanda Seyfried and Channing Tatum and the beloved 2004 film The Notebook. Now his next novel Safe Haven, which won’t be published until this fall, has been acquired by Relativity Media, who plans to promote the book when it debuts on September 14 via its online Rogue Network. The studio, along with producers Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen of Temple Hill, plan on fast-tracking the movie into production.

Safe Haven centers on a young North Carolina woman, determined to avoid forming personal ties until a series of events draws her into two reluctant relationships. She begins to fall in love but struggles with a dark secret that haunts and terrifies her.

Sparks’ films, which also include A Walk to Remember, Nights in Rodanthe and the upcoming The Lucky One have grossed more than half a billion dollars worldwide.
