Josh Holloway is trading his years on an island for another impossible mission, this time with Tom Cruise. The Lost star has jumped from one J.J. Abrams world to another, signing on to join the Mission: Impossible team that’s reassembling under director Brad Bird (The Incredibles) and producer Abrams.
The film marks Holloway’s first post-Lost role. He will join Cruise, Jeremy Renner (The Town), and Paula Patton (Precious), in addition to series regulars Simon Pegg and Ving Rhames. The Hollywood Reporter first broke the news this afternoon.
Details on the fourth iteration of this franchise are being kept under wraps, but production is expected to begin by the end of the year. The film is slated to bow Dec. 2011.

what happened to jonathan rhys meyers? Was he never asked or did they not want the risk because of the drug/alcohol thing? thought he’d be a great replacement for cruise until the whole racist comment thing happened-jeremy renner may be a good actor but he does float my boat as it were.

Easy there.. I like Holloway as much as the next stright man.. I love Lost and thought he was brilliant throughout. He made you love him, hate him, want to fight him and want to be his friend. However, Tom Cruise is a Legend and has starred in dozens of blockbusters and had lead roles in, I don’t know, over 50 movies, at least. Top Gun, Born on the 4th Oscar nom.. Lets not get crazy now..

Cruise is, as Cher would say, so ten minutes ago. Holloway’s day may just be beginning.
Cruise may be past his prime but is he no match for Holloway’s charisma? He is a leading actor, almost always.. Holloway was on one good show and part of an ensamble cast. I just think it was a bold statement.

I can’t stand Tom Cruise, but I will pay ten bucks just to see Josh and Jeremy.
I hate it when I have to break promises to myself. I’ve a long-standing commitment to never purchase another Tom Cruise ticket, and now I may have to go back on my word. But only if I can get a guarantee that Sawyer will be shirtless. Then I can leave with my dignity intact, knowing my $10 was well spent.
