'Prom' trailer: Will you go to the movies with me...to watch this guilty pleasure?

Have you ever been embarrassed, miserable, or disgustingly happy at a high school dance? Do you enjoy secretly DVR-ing High School Musical, even though you tell everyone you don’t understand the appeal of “Breaking Free”? (Which you totally do.) Are you a child, adult, or an in-between? Well, then chances are you’ll love Disney’s latest sure-to-be-tween-sensation Prom, which hits theaters April 29, 2011. Based on the trailer for the film — starring Friday Night Lights‘ Aimee Teegarden and Thomas McDonell, looking very Heath Ledger-in-10-Things-I-Hate-About-Youit has everything: Romance! Fighting! Disco balls! Fire! (Wait, is this Carrie?!) A frightening sense of importance placed on a very not-important-in-the-scheme-of-things event! (“It’s not about a dance. It’s about who you are and who you’re going to be.” Pressure!) And a great line: “Ah prom. It’s like the Olympics of high school. You wait four years, three people have a good time, and everybody else gets to live on with shattered dreams.” Click the jump, and let us know if you think Prom will be a dream come true.

I love HSM and I’m not embarrassed to admit it. It’s just fun. I will check out Prom, but the jury’s still out on either a theater viewing or a Netflix viewing.

No, sorry, it looks like pure garbage

I hate high school dances but I love watching HSM and I watch it proudly. Back in high school when I was driving home I would roll down my windows and blast HSM 2 soundtrack. I still love the music!!

This movies looks kind of like they are trying to make a documentary which will be annoying if it is like that, but otherwise it looks okay. I also like Nicolas Braun!!

Maybe it’s just where I’m from or something, but Prom is never like how they portray it in this movie or any other movie for that matter. I’ve never seen anyone ask out their date in some sort of extravagant manner like that.

Looks cool and the song at the very end is called Youngblood just for those who would like to know!!

I’ll be taking my nieces for sure. 13 and 10… they’ll love and I’m sure it won’t be the worst 90 minutes of my life ;D

Count me in. I can’t wait for another teen comedy, and I’m definitely feeling some of those 10 Things I Hate About You vibes.

Guess What this is a Remake of a Highschool Filmakers film made in 2009/2010. He entered it into a few west coast festivals including one in LA. His film was a giant hit at the Seattle International Film Fest. It appears someone who saw the entry in LA stole the idea.. including shooting it with a mockumentry style some lines even in the trailer are just like his film and he even had a guy with a home made “will you go to the prom?” sign that meets up with trouble. His film made the news in Seattle and he was on the cover of the local weekly arts focused newspaper. Look up his trailer on YouTube video ID 8DfPuUlvGI0 His film is called Senior Prom and SIFF loved it WOW Disney made a film about teenagers.. stolen from a teenager!!
