Image Credit: Ron Asadorian/SplashSo The Beaver will take a bite at the box office after all. The Mel Gibson comedy will be released in theaters in spring 2011, Summit Entertainment confirmed to EW. The project, directed by and co-starring Jodie Foster, was set to be released this year, but was shelved in the wake of accusations of abuse against Gibson by ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva. A trailer for the film, centered on a man who talks to a beaver puppet affixed to his hand, will air Friday on Entertainment Tonight. Now the only question is whether or not audiences will eat up the film, regardless of the real-life Gibson drama.

Jodie Foster’s “Home For the Holidays” is one of my favorite movies of all time, so I have to give this a shot based on that alone. Now, Mel Gibson being a douche and all might make this more of a DVD kind of movie for me.
Really, you wouldn’t see a movie based on an actor’s personality? Must not see a lot of movies then. You must have not seen any Disney movies either, since Walt Disney was an anti-semite.
It’s not just a matter of “personality.” Gibson has shown a pattern of racism and sexism that is unacceptable to most people and I am among those who cannot overlook it anymore. I will not be spending my money on any Gibson venture. As for Disney, he may or may not have been an anti-Seimte, I don’t know, but I do know that he has been dead and gone for a long time so he is not directly involved in any recent(ie past 20-30 years) Disney studio films.
dm: I really hope than you do not watch any Woody Allen movies or Roman Polanski films. If you are sticking to the same standard that you are holding Mel Gibson too, than I would assume that you do not support a convicted rapist, a man who has been accused of molesting his son, etc. I agree with Rolo Tomasi. Not seeing films based on an actor’s personality must leave thing’s pretty bare on what to watch.
Again, it is not a matter of personality. That makes it sounds like I am boycotting him because he is boring or dull. We are talking about someone who’s words and actions are reprehensible. There are a few (only a few) actors/filmmakers who have done things that I cannot in good conscience overlook. Yes, Roman Polanski is in that category. Woody Allen is not. I think the back and forth with Mia Farrow and Woody was done out of anger, not out of anything real.
Anyway, it doesn’t really matter. You go ahead and follow your conscience and I will do the same.

A must see movie, have heard Mel gives an awesome performance. Whatever people say about Mel, they can eat his crap because they should thank him for the movie he have starred in and the movies he have direct. Not many people comes up to his standard. SO GO SEE THIS WHEN IT COMES OUT!
Crazy film premise – I Love It! A great combo of Jodie & Mel, I will def go see this, these are two of my favorite actor/directors.
I heard the movie ends with the beaver’s batmitzvah, where the beaver cries out: “Woooooood” as they rip out his teeth. So yeah, I’m seeing it.
an anti-semitic bigot staring in a film about a man who talks to a puppet beaver. a perfect fit.
Even if there was no problem with Gibson I wouldn’t see this junk.

Given Gibson’s recent tirades toward his girlfriend, I would imagine this will be the last time he ever gets close to a beaver.
Mel Gibson is such a beaver.
And this movie looks worse than that dam joke (ha!) I just made.
The movie execs behind this clearly don’t think, so why the heck would they worry?
I could give a rat’s backside what actors do. Most of them aren’t to be looked up too. Now granted I wish Mel’s life had been more low profile but I’ll be able to enjoy his future stuff again. Still as I said above, when I first heard about this movie it sounded too weird to me. That was before all this ‘ranting’ stuff came out. I wouldn’t see this film anyway probably

gibson and his dirty movie( he is a very stingy person and bad father BULLY AND VIOLENT.he is using different women,but he makes them unhappy.he USED Oksana TO WORK TOO HARD FOR HIS FILM AND CLIPS when OKSANA WAS PREGNANT,therefore baby was born too early and NOT HEALTHY .he shouted before Lucia and did not think about health of LUCIA AFTER THAT. NOW HE WANT LUCIA BECAUSE HI WANTS her MONEY)
