Some fans had speculated that his Two-Face would somehow be resurrected or awoken from a coma to seek vengeance on Batman in The Dark Knight Rises. Not so. At least that’s what Aaron Eckhart was told by Christopher Nolan, according to MTV News. “Chris and I had a meeting, on the beach, just the two of us,” Eckhart said on Thursday. “I said, ‘Chris, a lot of people are asking me if I’m in the next Batman.’ And Chris said, ‘Yes?’ I said, ‘Am I?’ He looked at me and he said, ‘No.’ … I was heartbroken. But Chris has his reasons and my life must go on.”

I’m fine with that. He was good in the last one but I think his arc kind of ran it’s course, and Batman killing Dent is what puts him on Gotham’s ****list, so Dent not being dead negates the ending of the movie. Plus I’d like to see something new. I really wish Nolan would create an original villain for this third and probably last movie–go out doing something no one else has the balls to do instead of rehashing yet another been-done-to-death bad guy.
i’m fine with it too, dent had a big part in TDK though only a fraction of it was two-face related. I can’t really see two-face being a good villain especially for the finale in this saga, I’d rather see a much more explosive character like the riddler (a dark version would be unbelievable). An original villain is a very bad idea IMO, too risky especially since the fan base is die-hard batman fans.
Yeah, I want him to reach into the Batman archives and pull in a villain no one really knows; that would be cool. I’d also like to see his take on Penguin.
That’s too bad. My biggest complaint about TDK was that the story with Two Face was ridiculously rushed.

I agree too. Dark Knight was a really brillant movie up until the last 15 minutes. If they had ended the film right with the capture of the Joker I would have been really happy. The Two Face ending just seemed tacked on like some rushed afterthought.
I agree and disagree. I think the storyline with Harvey Dent was PERFECT, the birth of Two Face was great. My beef is that there was too much Dent and not enough Two Face. I kind of wish the film had ended with Two Face being created and left the villain of Two Face alive for the third one.
Agree! Two-Face is a great villain, yet he only got villain time in “Dark Knight” for what, twenty minutes? Aaron Eckhart is amazing, I was really hoping he’d be back for the next movie.
Fourthed.
Yep big time. Plus, the make-up effects looked a bit silly.
Seriously?? Silly? Um, did you watch batman forever? And how exactly is a guy with half his face supposed to look?
If you read the original DC comic, the Two Face from the movie is very, very similar.
I thought it was a vast improvement over Tommy Lee Jones’ Two Face in Batman Forever.
I’m not really surprised, as how could he have lived more than a week with his face half gone? We have skin for a reason — it helps to prevent infections. Once the character refused the grafts, he had signed his death warrant. His intention was always to die after he had his revenge.
Exactly my thought. In the Nolanverse version, Two-Face had to be a one-shot villain. This is why I have to raise my eyebrow whenever people ask when Clayface is going to show up. Nolan’s world is pretty clearly very dark, realistic, and superpower-free.
I mean how frustrating would it be if he just flipped the coin every scene for a whole film. I wish they gave him more of a choice or control than a coin toss.
Exactly. Clayface, Killer Croc and Dr. Freeze won’t appear ever, because how realistic would it be if a giant walking alligator started rampaging Gotham City? Nolan’s Batverse is VERY realistic and I love it.
That said, next up is Poison Ivy for me. It’s time for a villainess and a villain who uses biological poisons is similar to Scarecrow, but her femininity will be a new spin.
Riiiight. Very realistic….
GOOD!
The last movie was a Two-Face movie. I want a BATMAN movie!!
I agree… more Batman, please.
that’s just wrong….. Really
i think tommy lee jones was a better 2 face.
If you like cartoons and hearing a laugh that sounds hauntingly like emphysema, sure!
Billy Dee Williams was a better Harvey Dent.
Just remembering TLJ’S Two-Face and that god-awful movie gave me a cold chill.
A cold chill…almost like a kiss from a rose?
Touche JB…I cried a little
Can’t believe Batman Forever was seriously one of my favorite movies (forgive me, I was 9 at the time). Watched it again recently and almost died. Terrible, terrible film.
I Totally agree. The TLJ 2 face was more developed and sinister. A straight up arch criminal.
“More developed”? You’re joking, right? His origin was a two minute news clip in “Batman Forever.” His performance, while not as horribly over-the-top as Jim Carrey’s, was nonetheless an embarrassment for an actor as good as Jones.
Good. I like Eckhart but his transformation is not enough to sustain a reliable foe for an entire film. He’s good. His character jumped the shark, that’s all.
Im glad this is so because it would remind viewers of Heath ledgers joker and that won’t do the movie or Nolan any good
Personally, I felt the entire Harvey Dent story arc shoulda been building up in The Dark Knight and continue with a story arc in the next film with a new situation as to how he became Two-Face. I really felt the last 35 minutes of The Dark Knight could have made an entirely new 2-hour-plus film, once the Joker blew up the hospital. The third act felt rushed and added on for extra shock value. That woulda been an excellent movie on its own, but oh well.
Two-Face is a boring villian. I’m still exhausted from TLeeJone’s overacting in the 3rd Batman to appreciate the character.
Was meant to be comical, not boring and brooding. Batman is a comic book remember? Not ‘Twilight’ Goth junk
“Batman is a comic book remember?” That’s why Nolan’s films are superior to the four films that preceded them. Nolan takes the characters and inserts them in a much more realistic setting, and actually takes the time to develop them in interesting storylines instead of simply making live action cartoons.
You’re missing the subtext here. Just because Aaron Eckhart isn’t in the movie doesn’t mean Two-Face isn’t either, or isn’t a former romantic flame of Bruce Wayne’s who also was presumed dead in The Dark Knight. Read the comment again and you’ll see this is a possibility.
I loved Dark Knight, and thought Heath was more than deserving of the Oscar, but I agree with others. I thought the Two-Face storyline was way too rushed and wasted in the movie. I would have liked a movie dedicated to just that storyline.
In NOLAN we TRUST
yes we do
I cant believe Lady Gaga is playing Cat Woman!! The horror. WTF NOLAN????This is the worst move since TLJ’s for Two face!!
This is not true, and you people know it.
I heard that too on CNN.com crazzyzyy. Good for her though, she’s talented!!! I heard she’s even doing a song!
