'Rubber' trailer: You'll believe a tire can, uh, kill people

I know what you’re thinking: “Not another killer tire movie!” I jest, of course. No one has previously been brave enough — or dumb enough — to make a killer tire movie. But all that has now changed with Rubber, which, according to the movie’s official website, “is the story of Robert, an inanimate tire that has been abandoned in the desert, and suddenly and inexplicably comes to life. As Robert roams the bleak landscape, he discovers that he possesses terrifying telepathic powers that give him the ability to destroy anything he wishes without having to move. At first content to prey on small desert creatures and various discarded objects, his attention soon turns to humans, especially a beautiful and mysterious woman who crosses his path. Leaving a swath of destruction across the desert landscape, Robert becomes a chaotic force to be reckoned with, and truly a movie villain for the ages.”

Rubber premieres on demand February 25 and is released theatrically April 1. The latter date makes me wonder if this whole thing isn’t a gag of some sort, although the new trailer below does look very convincing.

Check it out, and tell us what you think.

With all of the facelifts in Hollywood essentially doing the same thing, it shouldn’t surprise anybody that there’d be at least one rubber face superstar able to hold off for rims.

Didn’t this film actually get a good reception when it premiered at the Cannes film festival last year?

Either way I’m so watching it!

Complete rip-off (and homage) to Attack of the Killer Tomatoes.

Shame on this intern EW staffer for clearly not researching the story.

  • Woot

It has 3 very positive reviews on rottentomatoes… hmmm

Is this a joke? I’m not sure whether to laugh or question the quality of movies….

This is definitely a gag, the director is Quentin Dupieux..(Dupe You) and has a release date of april 1st? Not rocket science.

This movie was probably the crappiest thing I have ever seen. They took the time to think of a name for it? Robert? Robert the telepathic tire? They spent the money to actually create this… And to think they are starving children in foriegn countries. Well, on the bright side… Nah, there’s not one.
