New 'Scream 4' trailer: Now we're the ones screaming

In the first Scream 4 trailer, everyone in the cast screamed. This time, it’s our turn. On the anniversary of the Woodsboro murders, a new generation of high school students is making prank calls as Ghostface, and someone is recreating the grisly murders from the movie within the movie, Stab. “The unexpected is the new cliché,” we’re told by a film geek. So we should expect the expected? If so, then everyone we see about to get slashed probably does get it. Cop Adam Brody, I’ll miss you most of all. Hayden Panettiere’s casting now appears brilliant. You kinda want her to get it, and yet, she delivers her lines with such bite, you kinda don’t. Watch the clip below.

It appears that Neve Campbell hasn’t invested in any acting lessons during her 10 year sabbatical.

Still that same constipated look on her face.

    • Alex

That made me laugh so hard!So very true, still think she’s awesome though!

    • Craig

Shows how little you know about acting. Neve is a wonderful actress who has earned high praise for her indie roles like Panic and on the Stage where she has stunned everyone

  • alex

MEMMMORRIESSS LIKE THE CORNERS OF MY MIND!!! aww.. i remember watching the first Scream.

  • Chris

They’d never do it, but they should make Sidney the killer. After dealing with the trauma of the last 3 films, she snaps and starts pre-emptively killing her friends before they can do it to her. And who would suspect the victim?

    • whatevs

Now THAT would be unexpected. Although, I didn’t like what they did in the 3rd film by having Scott Foley pretend to be dead only to make him the killer. That was a cop out.

    • Mallory

I’ve thought the same thing before, Chris. Sidney should be the killer. OR…Gale Weathers. She kills to keep her career alive.

    • Brad H

Granted it could be a red herring, but you do see both Gale and Syd attacked by Ghostface in the preview.
Likely that they are not the killers.

The first two scared me to death. (Yes, I’m a baby!) And even tho I’ll probably regret it, I HAVE to see this on the big screen. It’s been so long since I’ve been scared the way the first two films scared me. Childhood trauma revisited!

  • Mallory

I LOVED the first one. The second one was really sad when Randy died, and Jerry O’Connell is just annoying in everything. The 3rd one was AWFUL. I do have to say, though, that Neve Campbell is also kind of awful. Here’s hopin’ the 4th one is cheesy awesome!

It’s a great trailer. is Panattierre the new leading role? I had read Emma watson had been chosen, but basically it’s all about Hayden in the trailer……
by the way I am not stylist but her haircut is horribleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
she used to be so hot in Heroes…and now she got that weird and awful hair….

    • Minvike

I have no inside info but my guess is that Panatiere (sp?) will fill the “Drew Barrymore” role and will be the first one killed at the beginning of the movie. I remember they billed Barrymore as one of the leads when they promoted the first one so people would be surprised when she was killed 10 minutes into the first film.

      • Brooke

anna paquin and kristin bell have the drew barrymore role its just not in this trailer but they announced it somewhere

      • Minvike

        Thanks for the scoop, Brooke.

      • Tyler Dubois

Hayden will not be filling any role. She will not be the opening kill. Did you not just watch the trailer. If she wouldve been the opening kill she wouldnt have been in 6 of the scenes with many various character. Pay attention

    • Tom

It’s Emma Roberts (Julia’s niece) in this one (not Watson). It looks like she’s in the bedroom scene with Hayden when she opens the closet.

  • Jon

This movie should have been about a bunch of has-beens using a semi-beloved franchise as one final cash-grab. This series had one fully satisfying movie, its first. Wes and his actors decided to dig a little deeper for one more paycheck. It would be more meaningful if the careers of its director, writer and actors didn’t all go downhill. It’s not like anyone here isn’t desperate for a hit. The person who did the best post-”Scream” was its screenwriter. And I think it’s time to stop calling Wes Craven “the master of horror.” He has more misses than hits, and I think he lost the title forever with “My Soul to Take.”

    • Kim

Every horror director has more misses than hits.

      • DTO

I’d have to agree with Jon about a number of his points. The first movie was the best, and I think the most notable and scary part of that one was killing off Drew Barrymore in the first act. Courtney Cox should be thankful she’s got COUGARTOWN. The rest of these folks are fading, once-hip actors (I’m looking at you, Adam Brody and Hayden Panatierre!)trying too hard to stay relevant with a younger generation. Go reinvent yourself on an AMC, HBO, or FX series instead of bothering with a Wes Craven crapfest.

can’t stand that culkin with his hair and voice, so annoying, i hope he gets axed.

  • marilinda

hayden’s hair is horrible. she looks like a blonde peggy hill.

    • Rolo Tomasi

That was my first thought, what’s up with the hair?

  • Chris

Sad. Looks like Alison Brie bites it. Based on the rumors around her character, I thought she could have been the killer.

  • ziggy

I think Hayden P. is really underrated. She has good timing and can be edgy. I actually like her hairdo, it’s more mature and sexy.

  • Mike

Haha, What’s you’re favorite scary movie? Um, the Scream movies duh! I love these movies and I’m really glad they made a 4th one, the cast is just so great together.
P.S. What is up with Hayden’s hair? ewww

  • dan

lol all u sayin sydney shud be the killer – that was even mentioned in the 3rd film – how the hell is it original?
listen – it is a well cast film, it will do very very well at the box office and im sure it will have some really good chase scenes…the best of which scream 1- drew, sydney being chased thru the house, scream 2 buffy – and gail.
scream 4 should be reinvented because it can be…the door was left open (no seriously the end of scream 3 it was…duh!)
somebody saying it shouldnt be made..its not like its Titanic or anything – its a franchise…it could go on and on and on….just liek james bond…cos theres always sum1 who wants to kill sum1…and btw neve campbell is actually a pretty talented actress, her performances single handedly glued the franchise together.

  • Sam L

I am SO looking forward to this. It looks like this could be better than #2 and #3, based on what we’re seeing.

  • christina rueda

This is going to be the tits, I’m a huge fan of all the original films and Wes Craven is the best Horror Director ever, Im a film major and I know this will be an awesome horror film especially since the genre hasn’t been doing so well, Wes will help bring it back to the top.
