Jeremy Renner reacts to Oscar nomination for 'The Town'

rennerImage Credit: Claire FolgerJeremy Renner has a reason to rest. The actor, in Vancouver shooting Mission: Impossible 4, was alerted to his Best Supporting Actor nomination for The Town after a rough night of sleep. “I was certainly not awake,” Renner tells EW. “I was awakened by some phone calls. And I had a really hard time sleeping last night — for several reasons, but knowing this thing was happening in the morning is really nerve-wracking.”

Renner was nominated for an Oscar just last year for his work in The Hurt Locker, but the actor never anticipated his role in The Town would land him yet another nod. “I certainly knew it was a flashy role,” he says. “It was electric on the page. But there’s so many things that can go wrong when making a film, who knows what it will turn out to be? And [we] certainly pulled together a fantastic film and I’m happy to be a part of it.”

Renner will have to wait until Feb. 27 to find out whether or not he’ll pick up the prize, but, for now, the actor can celebrate the nomination with his Town co-star and director, Ben Affleck. “I haven’t spoken to him,” Renner says. “I just got onto my iPad and I’m looking at something from him right now and I need to call him. He’s elated and I can’t wait to talk to him. I’m calling him now!”

I long for the day when an actor admits that he was on the crapper when he received the good news.

Daniel Radcliff tells the story in interviews of how he was in the bath when his parents told him he’d landed the role of Harry Potter. That’s close.

Is every movie nominated overrated? All these posts I read say Social Network is overrated, Inception is overrated, True Grit is overrated, and now the Town! I don’t get it I thought the Town was awesome.

Because they think what he did was nothing and just copied other heist movies.I’d like to see them write the screenplay, act, edit and direct everyone, make it a critical and box office hit at the same time.Doubt many people can do that.Ben doesn’t need an Oscar .he’s already proven he’s a great director

This movie should have been nominated. It was great! Jeremy did an amazing performance, and I am glad he is finally getting the recognition he deserves. In my opinion, he should have won last year. Go Team Renner!
