At a tribute for Christopher Nolan at the Santa Barbara Film Festival Sunday night, the Inception director revealed that his third Batman film, The Dark Knight Rises, will begin production in May, according to ComingSoon.net. “We’ve worked on it a long time — [writer] David Goyer and myself. We’re about 12 weeks away from shooting.” Nolan also told the moderator that he ultimately returned for a third and, most likely, final Batman film, because, “It was about finishing the story.”

Please, make it great.
I’ll attach my plea with yours Emilio.
I third this motion.
im excited for the film and i have high hopes. even the casting of boring girl next door Hathaway as Catwoman couldn’t alter my mood.
I wish I lived in a neighborhood where Anne Hathaway is the “boring girl next door.”
No lie, that would one amazing neighborhood.
Im gonna move to that part of town!!!!! DAMN!
Hoping Nolan ends his Batman run on a high note.
I have no doubt that this movie wont Be anything else but GREAT! come on it’s Christopher Nolan. Of course it’s gonna be awesome!
Can’t wait till he’s done with this movie…hopefully Nolan will work on the sequel to Inception!
I have to disagree. Not every great movie needs a sequel. (In fact, most don’t.) I’d rather see Nolan go and focus on original storytelling after this, than to keep milking the pre-existing franchises.
Remember how great ‘The Matrix’ was? Remember how terrible the their sequels turned out to be?
amen to that
Are they filming in Chicago again?
I actually heard some rumors that they were filming in Detroit this time around as opposed to Chicago.
Ew why would they change to Detroit?
Don’t know why you had to use “Ew.” There are great tax incentives for filming in Michigan. Several movies have been filmed in and around Detroit lately, including Scream 4, the next Harold and Kumar movie, parts of the next Transformers movie, and the new Hugh Jackman movie Real Steel. It’s becoming a popular place for filming.
Have you ever been to Detroit? I have. The people are great, but I’m sorry, “ew” is an appropriate word to use. I’m excited for this next film… I hope they do a fourth though. Always the potential for that next great villain.
so i guess what you’re saying is that without batman, gotham will become a 3rd world city?
I live just outside of Detroit, so yes. And yes, I can understand why some people might be turned off by the city. But this is for filming a movie. Detroit is a great place to film movies. There are parts of the city that are great.
I heard they switched production to Detroit because Superman will be shooting in Chicago
wino, their is nothing boring about Hathaway.
Depends on the movie. But I’ll stand with those optimistic about this casting choice.
Even those who don’t like the Hathaway choice have to admit that when news came out about Heath Ledger as Joker, it was not well received. Yet that one turned ok. With Nolan at the helm, I have confidence it will be great.
Word is they’re scouting some locations around New Orleans.
True, and I believe they are also filming in the U.K. as well.
The sooner we get those Catwoman pics, the better!!!
Please not another 3 hours of that ridiculous deep whispering Bale. They would’ve cast Alec Baldwin if they knew thats what they were gonna get outta yous.
1) they always film parts of the Batman movie in London, the same way in the first two
2)They should AT LEAST do exterior shots in Chicago, because in this series, Gotham is Chicago-based.
3)Detroit doesn’t have enough tall buildings, so put that in the BS pile that they are shooting in Detroit
Even if there aren’t enough tall buildings, I doubt it would be a problem. I’m sure they can manage with the advances that have been made with special effects.
Hathaway could work well as Catwoman: the main role of Selina Kyle, no problem. Then she’s mysterious and somewhat hidden in the costume of the Cat – depending how they do it, she could totally have this alter-ego thing. I like her casting. Also – ever see ‘Rachel Getting Married’ ? She nails a tough, unlikable character, and got an Oscar nom.
Chris Nolan is the best director of our time. No doubt it’ll be great.
Chris Nolan is ONE of the best directors of our time (David Fincher, anyone?). Wonder how the directors who nominate for the Director’s Oscar can ignore him? Agree with the thought his next film should be an original – what’s his brother writing these days ?
