Until about 20 minutes ago, we’ve known precious little about this summer’s super-secretive, J.J. Abrams-directed, Steven Spielberg-produced Super 8. Previous teasers have spilled few details: an exploding train here, a felled telephone pole there. But now, thanks to the brand-new trailer that just debuted during the Super Bowl, we finally have some details. Judging from the all-too-quick spot, the movie looks very Spielbergian in tone and mood. The wondrous music, the small-town Americana, the kid riding his bike through a field. “Do not speak of this. If you do, they will find you.” What else? Elle Fanning looks tall next to that kid. And Kyle Chandler stares intensely at… what?
In other trailer news, Captain America also premiered. How does Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers feel after turning into Captain America? “Taller.”

Yep, very pleasantly surprised when I saw captain america as well. Super 8 was again another surprise yet 0 details about what its about.
Apart from a couple small chuckles the rest of the super bowl commercials just plain sucked. The level of humor just isn’t there like they used to be. Last years were not funny, this year even more so.
Ya got the worlds attention for 30 seconds yet they don’t bother making them funny. The funnier a commercial is the longer people will talk about = bigger brand awareness.

Well, the Thor video already says it’s no longer available. As for Super 8, I have no idea what on earth it’s about. I kind of hate trailers like that.

Are people (the general public, not just the geeks/Comic-Con crowd) really excited for Captain America and Thor? I have a feeling it could be like the graphic novel based movies last year, where they get an inflated hype from the nerd crowd but doesn’t quite translate to major blockbuster.
Captain America and Thor will most likely do very well- they’re the “summer blockbusters” and are most like Iron Man which did very well in its opening weekend. They’re not Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, which the general public didn’t know much about.
I think they’ll hit the core audience it’s looking for. And no, not just the “nerds”.
Super 8 looks incredibly confusing.
It looks confusing because they didn’t explain the entire plot in the trailer like most movies do. Abrams has confirmed that a group of kids are trying to make their own zombie film with a super 8 camera, and end up catching a train crash on film where a “beastly creature” that’s being moved by the gov’t escapes. Not confusing at all. A slightly more intense version of E.T.
Me thinks…no. I was psyched back in 2008 when these movies were green lit, but everything I’ve seen since has been underwhelming.
I think Captain America might have a better chance to be a big hit with the general public. I don’t know about Thor.
Super 8. Even though nothing is explained in the trailer, it still looks pretty cool.

Have seen the Cap trailer elsewhere and does look good, we get the Red Skull looking perfect and you can see the Howling Commandos in a few shots, should work out.

Super 8 looks fun, intriguing. When I saw that teaser trailer a while back I really wasn’t expecting what was just shown. I’d really like some story info though. Looks good.
I agree that there needs to be more story. Like “Does it take place in a Super 8 motel with a loveable cast of truckers?” “Do the aliens destroy Super 8′s?” “Is Super 8 really a front for a secret government UFO organization?” “Why would you name a movie after a major cheap motel chain?”
Wiki says it’s placed in the 70′s and the kids in the movie are using a super 8 camera to make a home movie and witness…
Super 8 is a brand of camera and film. Not the hotel chain. I think the trailer eludes to that in a line where someone says “don’t film this” or something like that.

Just going by the trailer Super 8 looks like a cross between E.T, The Iron Giant & The Mist.

From what I could tell, there’s something big trying to burst out of a train and there’s a random little boy. And I think I saw Elle Fanning at some point. That’s all I got from it.
