EW has confirmed that Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Scott Pilgrim vs. The World) has been tapped to play Mary Todd Lincoln in Timur Bekmambetov’s Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, an adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith’s novel. (The news comes just one week after Robin McLeavy was thought to be filling the role.) Anthony Mackie and Dominic Cooper are also co-starring in the film, playing Lincoln’s best friend and mentor, respectively. Click here to see which other roles in the film have yet to be cast.

‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter’ is staking out its cast

Good cast so far, even though the real Mary Todd was short and stout, something Mary Elizabeth Winstead is definitely not.
Actually if you see Mary Todd Lincoln’s dress at the Smithsonian, she had a very tiny waist. Part of that could have been a corset, but she may not have been as stout as often portrayed.
Yeah and Abraham Lincoln didn’t really fight vampires, what’s your point?
Damn. I was really pulling for Robin McLeavy.
How did I miss that Benjamin Walker booked this?! As far as being typed for roles goes, “Bad ass version of a President” ain’t bad.
That’s one hot Mary Toddy
Mary Todd Lincoln in the house! My husband was probably gay, and I`m bipolar, ahich makes me scream things like: That teapot`s spreading lies about me.
That can’t be my baby because I don’t love it!
Sooooo hot. . .
Ugh! I hope her tainted touch and horrible acting doesn’t make this film flop miserably like how Scott Pilgrim did.
Seven score and 5 years from now, my wife will be portrayed by that cheerleader who, while unconscious, was traded by her friends for a car to a guy we’re all pretty sure was a rapist in Death Proof.
Nicely done.
Whenever I see her I can’t shake how obnoxious she was in her short stint on Passions. Funny how she is arguably one of the most successful from that show when her acting was so bad.
She’s succesful because she is smoking hot. That’s how US ‘actors’ make it big nowadays. When it comes to roles where an actor is needed, Hollywood turns to the English speaking world (UK and OZ generally)
Is this gonna be like Jonah Hex??
No, She’s gotten much better since being in Passions.
I don’t think anyone argued that.
Instead, what if we place the coins in three dimensional space, with the four ptnrideess standing in a line facing the same direction. The difference in profiles would place us (the viewer) in between Jefferson and Lincoln. The symbolism here would be that these four ptnrideess would all be looking forward, into the future, as we all look backward. Because their faces are on coins, and the united states uses a fiat currency, we can assume that these great forward looking men are telling us that we place an imaginary sense of grandeur on our past. Maybe I’m reading too much into it.
