Academy launches 'The Road to the Oscars'

Now that we’re just nine days away from Oscar night, the Academy has launched its web series The Road to the Oscars on its official site, Oscar.com. Every day between now and Feb. 27, host Chris Harrison will take Oscar fans behind the scenes of a different aspect of this year’s telecast. The series also features yours truly as I present one Best Picture nominee each day. (I filmed my portion of the series inside the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theatre, where official Oscar screenings are held.) We start alphabetically with Black Swan—here’s a preview clip of my featurette on the film.

Go to Oscar.com for the full Road to the Oscars episode. You can also watch my interviews with nominees from The King's Speech and The Fighter here. And follow me on Twitter (@davekarger) for more Oscar news.

    Interesting clip.

Dave, where can we find the full clip on Oscar.com? The video you did on the Red Carpet tab tells us to click on the “Nominees” tab. There is only a tab that says “The Nominations”, so I clicked on that, but can find no “Road to the Oscars” clip – only the video of the nominees being announced and nominee info for each movie. Do you have to be a member to find the clips?

Hello Anne…the Road to the Oscars episode should play automatically right after my little intro.

Thanks for responding, Dave! Looks like the site has now been fixed, and the Nominations tab plays your intro video instead of the video of nominations being announced.
        Cool video!

dave i have a question. Much has been made about the kings seep recent sweep and the social networks early speech. however, i havent seen anybody talk about the fact that social network sweeped critics awards and kings speech sweeped guild awards. this seems to me like there is a vast disparity between critics and t6hose that actually work on the movies. with the exception of the BAFTAS the social network swept the critics awards while the kings speech swept the guild awards. has this happened before? it seems odd to me. usually some of the guilds or critics groups disagree but here you have two opposing groups that seem to have the same opinion within. are there any other recent examples when this happened?
