Alec Baldwin joins 'Rock of Ages'

Alec-BaldwinImage Credit: Jason LaVeris/FilmMagic.comAlec Baldwin will join Tom Cruise, Mary J. Blige, and Julianne Hough in director Adam Shankman’s Rock of Ages film. The director himself took to Twitter over the weekend to trumpet the news, saying, “So, based on info I got today, I’m gonna confirm Alec Baldwin as Dennis in Rock Of Ages. Hollah.”

Baldwin had long been rumored for the part of Dennis Dupree, the aging rocker who stays in the game by running a Hollywood club. The 30 Rock actor’s rep did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

I’m still amazed at the fame Ryan Seacrest’s beard is getting these days…

Wow, the casting for this movie gets more and more WTF! They better get somebody great for Drew. Since I like Alec, I’ll go with it. Honestly though, I can’t stand Adam Shankman…I thought his Oscars were horrible, but you know, I guess by comparison to this year’s, they were gold.

We get it – you are really into insider movie news, casting, etc. You can stop trying to brag, now…

Um, what are you talking about?

  • SirLizard

    Will this be Alec’s “Burlesque”?

Personally, if the Shanks doesn’t give the role to Constantine, then this is all for naught. If you’ve caught the live show, then you know. I will compare whoever they cast to him and I can’t imagine it will end well for anyone but Constantine

I totally agree! I’ve seen the live show 4 times, and I can’t imagine anyone else in that role. Constantine was born to play Drew.

The more I hear about the cast, the less I want to see the movie. Something is wrong here.

Hi Michael,Thank you for addressing my eitsquon. I think that is a fascinating Success Ritual Habit from such athletics leaders like the elite dancers of Dancing with the Stars like Julianne Hough. What an interesting point to make while I am here also watching the NHL Hockey Stanley Cup Finals, the hardest fought championship in sports. Truly, by the quarterfinals and semifinals, players are playing injured. It’s a given. Certainly by the finals, there’re injuries only the players don’t talk about it. The week after the Finals, all the injuries are announced. The downtime of offseason is need to heal. However, the better players are still staying in shape, just as you noticed. No one at an elite level just kicks it back and goof off!Can you imagine goofing off for months on end in a marriage relationship or father parental relationship with your children without the results being devastating?Excellent Success Rituals, Michael!Happy Dating and Relationships,April Braswell

Seems only fair that Shankman should put the star of the Broadway cast in the film- Constantine & the cast/band get much of the credit for the film coming to fruition at all.

Ha-Ha — silly me, I saw the headline and was happy for him. I thought Alec Baldwin had joined a church!

First question – Lucas Wynne getting the role, true or rumor mill? I do want to see it go to Constantine, but if this rumor is true we won’t be disappointed.

Secondly, what ever happened to Anne Hathaway as the female lead? Why was Julianne Hough chosen instead?

Let’s get the gossip going people!
