EW has learned exclusively that Penélope Cruz is set to reteam with Woody Allen. The actress previously appeared in Allen’s 2008 film Vicky Cristina Barcelona, for which she won the Oscar for best supporting actress. “I know [what I'm doing next], but the thing is that I have to ask the director what I can say and what I cannot say,” Cruz tells EW. “Because he’s very secretive. It’s…it’s a movie with Woody Allen. But I really cannot say anything about the story or the characters.”
Allen recently announced that he planned on shooting his as-yet-unnamed next film in Rome. The director’s new movie Midnight in Paris will open in select cities on May 20, the same day as Cruz’s Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides sets sail in multiplexes.

She is one of the best actors alive. The scene in which she discovers her dead husband in Volver will forever be considered one of the best
Agreed. Some of her earlier roles in American films were a little over-the-top (Blow, Vanilla Sky) but in films like ‘Volver’, ‘VCB’, ‘Nine’, ‘Broken Embraces’, etc., she proves that she’s one of her generation’s finest actresses. ‘Volver’ so far is her finest achievement. A magnificent performance.

the crappy H’wood movies she’s miscast in you watch for her “knockers”. Her great European movies you watch for her talent. Volver is indeed her finest moment so far and she was the best thing in VCB.

I have seen most of her major movies since her debut Jamon Jamon. With the exception of a few Hollywood duds she is undoubtedly the most talented actress of our generation. Volver, VCB, Broken Embraces, All About My Mother, Belle Epoque, amazing!
